Total Humiliation to Stay at...
Disliked: I am a Dr from Pakistan and was visiting US with my wife for few weeks. Got reservation through booking.com in Staybridge Suites University of Rochester in Rochester city NY USA. My check in was on 6 September 2021 and check out 11 September 2021.On 6 September 2021 after traveling by AMTRAK train from Chicago the whole night for 12 hours we reached the hotel very tired where we were denied to checkin telling that as the hotel didn?t have machine for chipped based Credit Cards it could not check us in. I was told by the staff that as my Master Credit Card was Chipped based and could not be swipped they wouldn?t allow us to stay. My Master Credit card is a chipped based card and i have been using it globally without any issues. I informed the receptionist that he should resolve the problem as it was the hotel or IHG?s fault that they don?t have the machine. I offered to pay in cash which he refused. I asked to talk to manager but he was not available. I being a stranger and tourist was totally shocked, embarrassed and humiliated that I after traveling thousands of miles from my home had to face this problem. When I asked for the solution the receptionist told me that someone else could come and use card on my behalf. In a foreign land how could I find someone to help me. I requested the hotel to talk to someone at a higher position to accept cash or find another way to use my card but they were not helpful.THE HOTEL or IHG WEBSITE SHOWS NO SUCH INFORMATION THAT THEY DONT HAVE PROPER MACHINES TO READ CREDIT CARDS. Fortunately with a lot of effort I found a Dr in Rochester who came and paid the amount through his card. It took us 4 hours. I also requested the receptionist to take some guarantee money and open the room so that till I find some one my wife could take some rest, which was again denied. WE ARE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED, HUMILIATED, EMBARRASSED AND TRAUMATISED. This is what these guys do with their guests. SHAME ON THEM.

Liked: Breakfast was great! The rooms were clean, good amount of space, comfy. I felt very comfortable here and would definitely stay again!
Disliked: the pull out couch wasn't very comfortable. It's on the edge of a bad area. You can tell they are trying to make it an up and coming area, but it's not the best if you go too far. Also you're apparently near a campus expect loud college parties on the weekend...

Disliked: It was advertised as a 3 star hotel and it doesn't come close to that. No airport shuttle as advertised so we had to get an Uber, no light in the bathroom, in bad area so front doors to lobby were locked, room was in basement.
