I can see your trying...
Liked: The bed was comfortable with nice clean bedding. Some very quaint bits and pieces trying to make it feel oldy worldly but it just doesn’t work with the new build and modern bed etc, but a cute touch. Was nice to have a bath for a change from a shower.
Disliked: Hated the room, window was high up, not the same as the picture when I booked it, so only view were leaves in the top of trees, despite an upgrade from the owner after i specifically asked for the room advertised. The bath had white tissue paper and grey bits floating around in, not so relaxing! The complimentary breakfast was a lovely touch but the fruit bread was very stale, so needs replacing daily. The entrance and hotel room is all key pad locks with numbers that were really fiddly, I couldn’t get back into my room for a while as took four attempts with the lock.No one around to chat to or if a problem, mobile phone number to call, although landlord did knock and check shortly after arrival. The place closes at five pm and a metal fire escape staircase takes you to your room, not nice in the rain.

Disappointed the pub closed at...
Liked: Nice location and comfortable
Disliked: I had chosen this stay specifically for the traditional old pub vibe. However it wasn’t a pub, it was more of a cafe and closed at 5, which sort of defeated the reason for the stay. This should be made clear as effectively left us with a Travellodge type experience.

BAD EXPERIENCE
Liked: Village location with good friendly local shop and pub
Disliked: Housekeeping poor, towels were not changed, milk ran out in the room. Didn't get to meet staff, room was on first floor so outside wrought iron steps were dangerous in the wet. Parking was a NIGHTMARE station car park always full so had to park on the street (disabled partner), and during one night (21st) my car was hit by another vehicle causing over £900 of damage. Will not be returning.

Our stay was pleasant enough,...
Liked: Coffee facilities with fresh milk and complimentary continental breakfast a definite plus point. Staff very helpful and friendly and location ideal for what we wanted.
Disliked: Devon is relatively expensive, but we expected a little more for the price; access up fire escape steps to first floor, plus second floor by further stairs should be made apparent in advance to inform people who will find this difficult, which we did. No shower curtain or screen over the bath, therefore a wet floor; no dressing gown hook, shelf for toiletries, towel rail or even a loo roll holder. Poor ventilation to the bedroom, only one small velux window or leave the fire escape door open. Very low bed with wooden frame made it a lot less comfortable.
