Pleasant stay but you don't...

Liked: The location just off the trans pennine trail was ideal for our cycling trip, but it is a mile or two away from anything else. The staff were helpful and the full bathroom was good. Breakfast was good with an a la carte choice of hot food plus continental items.
Disliked: The "suite" consisted of a small double bedroom with an adjacent room with a wardrobe and one armchair. We could not both relax and watch telly in the living area but there is room for a two seater sofa or two chairs if they thought about it. No coffee machine in the room. No view. It is a pleasant, country house hotel but at this price point I was expecting something more special, you just pay for the area it is in.

Tired, run down hotel

Liked: Comfortable clean bedroom and serviced both days
Disliked: Evening meal/wine choice and meal presentation was well below the standard we would expect from any hotel. Coffee machine broken, only two wine choices unless purchasing a bottle, two starters unavailable both nights. Not made aware when presented with the menu. Steak and chips were exactly that. No garnish or vegetables. Looked totally unappealing as a result. Menu didn't change.Very tired, run-down appearance of the hotel reception area and other public areas other than the bar. Bedroom decor was grey, grey, and even more grey with plain curtains, no colour to break it up. There is only one bedside light. No hairdryerFeedback on the food presentation given to staff who passed on the details to reception so that the duty manager the next morning could discuss. We waited to see if anyone would approach us, but there was no show. It appears to focus on being a wedding and conference venue. It's advertised as an upscale hotel, which it clearly is not.
