The Spotlight on Star Hotel

Affordable Comfort Steps from London’s Music Scene

Modern, unfussy, and friendly, the Star Hotel is a cozy, budget-friendly base in West London that puts you close to the city’s top live music venues. Just a 10-minute walk from Hammersmith Tube Station, this hotel keeps you well-connected to the rest of the capital while offering a quiet place to land after a night out. Rooms are simply styled with all the essentials, including a private bathroom, TV, hairdryer, and free Wi-Fi throughout.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music fans rave about the walkable location—it’s under 15 minutes on foot to the Hammersmith Apollo, Lyric Theatre, and O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, making it super easy to catch a show and stroll back after. Despite being close to the action, the hotel is tucked away enough to offer a peaceful night’s sleep. With a check-in time of 14:00 and check-out at 10:30, there’s enough flexibility for most show schedules, though a slightly later checkout would be nice for those post-gig lie-ins.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for an affordable base near multiple venues
Solo travelers on a bucket-list gig adventure
Couples turning a concert into a weekend getaway
Fans needing peace and quiet after rocking out
Budget-conscious music lovers who want location without the price tag

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant or bar, you’re surrounded by walkable eateries in Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush. From late-night kebabs to cozy cafés, it’s easy to find something satisfying after a show. Breakfast is available at the hotel, perfect for easing into the day after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You won’t find a bar onsite, but you’re spoiled for choice nearby. The area is packed with pubs, bars, and music spots, whether you're up for a post-show drink or some local live music. Both Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush have a lively, safe nighttime vibe.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, the clean, well-kept rooms, and the unbeatable location for concerts. Many mention the excellent value for money and highlight how quiet the area is at night, despite being close to major venues and transport.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side, and the décor is quite simple—don’t expect luxury finishes. Some concert-goers wish for a later checkout time, especially after a big night out. Still, the comfort and location more than make up for it.

The Bottom Line

A solid choice for concert-goers who want comfort, convenience, and value within walking distance of London’s top music venues.

Another good stay at the...

Liked: We were welcomed at reception and the reservation was confirmed immediately even though we had two separate bookings [a two night with and added one night booked later] We recieved a messaged response to confirm no room change.Compact room [21] with a good bathroom and shower with towels and toiletries.Enough wardrobe space, sockets and USB. The supplied fan was an absolute must during the very hot weather.Cool, crisp sheets - no need for duvet but stored in wardrobe space.Very good location a 10 minute walk to the busy Hammersmith bus and rail stations and pubs etc. Some good pubs and restaurants very close with a Tesco across the road and a similar walk to Shepherd's Bush.

Really good stay, would definitely...

Liked: Good location, easy to find, rooms were clean and well presented. Staff were incredibly friendly and chatty.
Disliked: Although it seems it’s being implemented, air-con is definitely a necessity in the room. However, the hotel do provide a fan while the air con is being fitted.

Basic hotel but perfectly nice...

Liked: Very convenient for access to the Eventim Apollo - 15 min walk or a few mins in a taxi. Very close to the tube station and Broadway shopping centre so plenty of shops and food places nearby. Room was clean, staff were friendly.
Disliked: Beds weren’t the most comfortable but okay. Didn’t realise when booking there is a police station about 300m down the road so there were sirens up and down the road all night - not the fault of the hotel at all (and our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the main street too) but not ideal if you’re a light sleeper so just something to be aware of when booking.

Very good

Liked: The room was in a great location to get to and from required places, had good facilities such as a fan, kettle, hot drinks options etc. It was clean and tidy. The room was a decent size, check in was easy and well-explained.
Disliked: Our room was on the front street on the top floor so traffic was quite loud, even with shut windows. The bathroom was a bit of a tight squeeze but no issues with facilities. Unfortunately our sleep was disrupted due to people in the room opposite being incredibly loud until 1am, so if you are a light sleeper like me, ear plugs may be required as there wasn't much opportunity for silence (obviously this wouldn't always be the case but it seems that the walls were quite thin)
