Liked: Perfect hotel for a classic break.

Amazing, relaxing, compelling.

Liked: Stanbrook Abbey is a beautifully presented hotel, which surprised and amazed me. The architecture and heritage is amazing, created by a great combination of tradition and modernity. The service, food and staff were outstanding. The rooms are beautifully finished and very clean. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Liked: Pretty building
Disliked: No air conditioner as listed building, but website last November stated feature rooms had it so booked one of those. Only to find the description had changed and there don’t. Old noisy fan in room. Windows only opened 6 inches so we cooked all night. The number of ‘safety’ lights in the room and lights on appliances made it feel like we were trying to sleep in an 80’s disco. It is well known now that extraneous lighting at night serious affects sleep quality and health. I did advise reception after the first night, but as we were at a wedding we did not know that they hadn’t addressed it as they said they would until very late at night.I reported it again at check out to be told they keep eye masks behind the desk for this reason….As for cleanliness, our room charged at over £300 ppn hadn’t been dusted in a long time, with many ‘mature’ cobweb with inhabitants noted. Lastly, dogs are allowed to stay, so each morning we were greeted early by barking dogs outside our window running around not being controlled by their owners.All in all pretty disappointing for the price of the stay.They did offer 20% off the price, but we still paid £550 b&b for essentially a weekend of no sleep.
