The Spotlight on St Simeon

Affordable Comfort in Chic South Kensington

Modern convenience meets classic charm at St Simeon, a no-frills, budget-friendly hotel in the heart of London’s stylish South Kensington. Just a short stroll from top museums and a quick Tube ride to major concert venues, this hotel offers a warm, welcoming base for music fans exploring the city. With period-style décor and thoughtful amenities like a communal kitchen and TV lounge, it's a smart choice for travelers who want location without the luxury price tag.

Why Concert-goers love it

If you're heading to a gig, St Simeon puts you in a prime spot. You're only 5 minutes' walk from both Earl's Court and Gloucester Road Tube Stations, making late-night travel across London a breeze. After a loud night out, the residential vibe of South Kensington ensures a quieter stay, perfect for winding down. While reception closes at 1am, you'll still have ample time to return after most shows.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to crash somewhere central without blowing the budget
  • Solo travelers catching a must-see artist
  • Couples building a weekend around a concert
  • Fans who appreciate a quiet night after a high-energy show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who value location over luxury

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site bar or restaurant, St Simeon offers a communal kitchen and dining area—perfect for heating up a post-concert snack or brewing a late-night tea. A cooked breakfast is served each morning, ideal for those recovering after a late night. Plus, you're within 10 minutes’ walk of plenty of pubs, cafés, and restaurants in South Kensington.

Nightlife Options

You're not far from some of West London’s liveliest spots. Earl’s Court and Kensington have plenty of pubs and low-key lounges perfect for pre-show drinks or a casual nightcap. While the hotel itself doesn’t offer live music or a bar, its location makes it easy to find the vibe you're after.

What People Say

Guests love the excellent location, especially for sightseeing and hopping on the Tube to concerts. Many highlight the friendly staff, clean rooms, and the bonus of a cooked breakfast. The communal kitchen is a hit with those who prefer DIY dining or late-night snacks after a gig.

Areas for Improvement

The rooms are on the basic side, and the décor may feel a bit old-fashioned for some. Also, since reception closes at 1am, it's worth checking your concert end time and making sure you're back in time—or arranging a key in advance.

The Bottom Line

A smart, budget-friendly choice with a fantastic location and quick Tube access—St Simeon is ideal for concert-goers who want a quiet, convenient place to recharge after the show.

Loved the location, liked the...

Liked: The location is brilliant, very handy for the South Kensington museums, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus etc. Also a number of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Breakfast was decent and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The bedroom was terrible. Whilst it was clean and the bed was fine, it would be hard to market a room this small as a single room, let alone as a double room. Noise from adjacent rooms is very audible as it light shining through glass pane above the door when people are coming in and out of their rooms. Room was also quite hot as no air con and just a small desk fan provided.

This was the worst place...

Liked: The location was good for the tube and eating places
Disliked: Room 27, 4th floor. Suppose to be a double room, but really only a single. Small bed pushed up against the wall. The sheets didn’t fit the bed, only 2 pillows Room was airless, hot and stuffy the window did not stay open. We had to prop it open with a drawer from the bedside cabinet. Shower was a dribble and the drains smelt foul. No facilities in the room for making hot drinks, and there wasn’t any drinking water in the room. One of the sockets didn’t work and probably was in a dangerous state. The cooked breakfast was small 1 sausage, 1 slice of bacon 2 mushrooms 1 egg and a few beans. The fruit put out was covered in bruises. The tea had a scum floating on top of it. The cost was £180 a night. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone
