Exceptional
Liked: What a fantastic find, everything about this little guest house is wonderful. The staff were just lovely, Dan was a fountain of knowledge and gave us lots of history about the city and great tips for a pub run
Disliked: Nothing

Good
Disliked: Whilst the room was good, clean and adequate for our needs the only issue we experienced was the fact that there were no accessible plug sockets. A hairdryer and electric fire were supplied, with nowhere to plug them in. We found one socket behind the chest of drawers/coffee unit which we couldn't move and another underneath the bed which we had to pull out from behind the headboard to use.

Wonderful Stay
Liked: Reception when arriving was very welcoming, Danny was more than helpful and everything was explained in a friendly pleasant manner. The room was fine with tea/coffee facilities and bottled water. The bathroom was a little small but made up for it with a great powerful shower.Car parking was a bonus and very close to the guest house. Location was great with only a five minute walk to the minster.
Disliked: If you have to think about this question then your looking for faults, everything was great

St. Raphael is the ONLY...
Liked: We received a brilliant, friendly, welcome from Danny, the host.He was a mine of information on York. Thank you Danny. This guest house is situated in a very quiet area of the city, but within an easy, level, walk to the centre of York. One of the main stops of the hop-on, hop-off city tour bus is just a few minutes walk down towards the city centre. ( Book this tour bus through Booking.com for a discount ).This guest house serves excellent breakfasts, including home baked bread ( as baked by the Romans).Car parking is so simple because Danny has many free parking bays reserved, near to the establishment.
Disliked: The only thing that we did not like was that we only had two nights staying in York. We needed more - but. we will return to St. Raphael.

Very good
Liked: Friendly staff, parking available nearby, fairly close to city centre. Good breakfast with fresh bread. Super powerful shower.
Disliked: We were told we needed to go down for breakfast at 8.15 (service was 8.15-9.30) as all rooms were booked to spread service out. We like a later breakfast and would have liked it if guests could be asked if they had a preference. When we went down it looked like nearly all the other guests had also gone down early as all tables were full so we could easily of gone down later. Also another guest kept coming down to breakfast barefoot. Not exactly the B&Bs fault but not what I want to see when eating my breakfast and surely a H&S risk with hot food and drinks around.

Perfect place to stay!
Liked: The breakfast was fantastic with freshly baked bread! Room was clean, bright and airy. Bead was comfortable and plenty of storage space. Parking for free, but make sure you give your car details in so the permit can be placed for you. Friendly and helpful staff. Shampoo and shower gel and towels provided. Lots of local information in the room information booklet with recommendations of activities and food locally. Leaflets in the entryway to give you some ideas of what's around! Great location with a short walk to the city centre.
Disliked: Missing a hash brown option at breakfast.
