The Spotlight on St Paul's Hotel

Historic charm meets modern style in the heart of West London

St Paul's Hotel is a stylish, boutique retreat tucked into a beautifully restored 19th-century building just a 5-minute walk from Hammersmith Tube Station. Once a school — and even the base where Churchill planned the D-Day landings — this elegant hotel offers a unique blend of history and comfort. With free Wi-Fi, refined rooms, and a creative British restaurant on site, it's a relaxing spot to recharge between gigs and sightseeing.

Why Concert-goers love it

Thanks to its prime location near Hammersmith, concert-goers can walk to some of the city's most popular live music venues in under 10 minutes. The area is well-served by Tube stations, so late-night travel is easy. Rooms are soundproofed enough for a peaceful night's sleep after a loud show, and the 2:00 PM check-in gives you time to settle in before heading out. The hotel’s romantic and relaxed atmosphere is perfect for winding down post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a stylish base with great transport links
Solo travelers on a mission to see a favorite artist
Couples planning a music-filled weekend getaway
Fans wanting a quiet, upscale place to recover after a show
Budget-conscious music fans who still want boutique quality

Food and Drink Options

At the hotel’s on-site restaurant, Melody, enjoy a modern British menu with an impressive wine list — ideal for pre-show dinners or romantic post-concert meals. The lounge bar is perfect for light bites and drinks in an elegant setting. While there’s no 24/7 room service, tea and coffee facilities in every room and nearby late-night eateries mean you won’t go hungry. Breakfast is available, even if you sleep in after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You're close to popular pubs and lounges in Hammersmith, with everything from traditional British taverns to upscale wine bars just a short walk away. While the hotel itself doesn’t offer live music, its serene vibe is a welcome contrast to the chaos of a big show.

What People Say

Guests rave about the historic atmosphere, calling the hotel “full of character” and “charming.” The friendly staff and beautifully decorated rooms get consistent praise, as does the convenient location for concerts and exhibitions. Many highlight the hotel’s peaceful setting despite being close to busy venues.

Areas for Improvement

Some visitors note that room sizes can be a bit snug, especially in the standard categories. The building’s age means there’s no elevator, which could be a factor for guests with heavy luggage or mobility issues. Still, staff are helpful with bags.

The Bottom Line

St Paul’s Hotel is a charming, well-located boutique stay that’s perfect for concert-goers wanting comfort, style, and a little history with their music weekend.

Clean; immaculate; professional staff; excellent restaurant; delicious food; lovely rooms and bathrooms. A quite oasis overlooking parkland in the middle of Hammersmith. Full of history.

Liked: Beautiful hotel; full of character.
Disliked: No peaceful lounge and reception should be enlarged and closed off.

Exceptional

Liked: The building has immense character and is very well located for Kensington and the riverside at Hammersmith. The staff are polite and helpful, the receptionist wonderful. As a solo traveller, I am used to little more than box rooms with a single bed. My room at St Paul's was clean, spacious and resplendent with a comfortable double bed. A wonderful stay, thank you.
Disliked: Leaving so soon.

A little oasis amongst a...

Liked: We particularly liked how the building had been preserved. There were also 2 outstanding staff, Sam on the desk and Vikki at breakfast (singlehandedly kept breakfast from reducing into chaos)
Disliked: We witnessed an homeless man getting undressed outside the bar window obviously on the hotel property. We mentioned to the barman who shrugged like it was an everyday occurrence?? I also would expect the room to have bathrobes in a 4* hotel

Very good

Liked: The stay was comfortable, and the staff were very friendly.
Disliked: The restaurant was a major downside. The breakfasts were very poor, and for someone who doesn’t eat meat, there weren’t many options. For £17, I expected something better. Additionally, the staff added a service fee both to the breakfasts and to the drinks ordered on the patio. So, what was supposed to be an optional charge turned out to be mandatory - and we weren’t informed about it.
