Superb

Take 15 layers of clothes...

Liked: NothingFreezing. Like a morturary. Hallways heated like a tropical jungle - my room - minus 2..Water was luke warm - no ice machine and calling the hotel over the road was pointless. No fridge, so warm water only. Very very disappointed and minor rigamortis setting when i left.I would add im menopausal and have hot flushes which stopped totally. An ice bath wouldve been warmer.
Disliked: As above.No fridge?? No comp water. Tv barely worked. Air con/heating hanging off the wall. No blankets.Bare essentials - and i had a king suite with wrap terrace. Ive stayed in central London for less money and far superior facilities.

Great location, good value modern...

Liked: Great location for castle park festivals and high street, modern and clean rooms, had everything we needed, staff helpful
Disliked: No parking we drove around for ages trying to find a car park with reasonable prices but was still £12 a night

Disliked: Very hot room, noisy at night as the room faced into the high street

Liked: The location was perfect, very close the the castle and town centre. The lighting was good and liked that there was a big TV.
Disliked: It was a very hot day so the room was uncomfortably hot. I asked for a fan and thankfully we were provided with a fan so that made our night more comfortable. I was looking forward to a nice cup of tea upon awaking but sadly there were no mugs, despite having a kettle and tea making facilities. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the room spacious.

Disliked: No air con but there was a fan . Windows had to be kept open so a bit noisy but you are on the high street with pubs around so to be expected

Good location but unbearably hot...

Liked: The location is excellent—right in the town centre and close to places we visit regularly in Colchester.
Disliked: The room was unbearably hot, despite comfortable temperatures outside. A fan was provided, but it only blew warm air and didn’t help at all. It felt like a sauna, and we genuinely considered sleeping outside. For the price paid, we expected proper ventilation or air conditioning.Noise was also a problem. We accepted that being in the town centre would come with some noise, but without air conditioning, we had to keep the windows open, which made it much worse.We specifically chose this hotel because it advertised EV charging. While we understand the chargers are located in a public car park, they were consistently occupied by non-EV vehicles. This forced us to search for alternative charging points, which was stressful and defeated the purpose of booking a hotel with this facility. Reception acknowledged the issue but said they couldn’t do much. We believe the hotel could help by reporting these incidents to encourage enforcement.Overall, we were disappointed. With some improvements—particularly around room temperature and EV charging management—we’d consider staying again.
