Greta stay, beautiful hotel, amazing...

Liked: Beautiful property and setting. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Mia at reception welcomed me so nicely and let me borrow an iPhone charger when I’d forgotten mine - the small things!

Very disappointed, as the place...

Liked: Location
Disliked: The room had a damp smell. I left early, but there was no option for a takeaway breakfast. I also arrived after 9pm and there was no attempt to offer room service or inform me that the kitchen would be closing at that time. Overall, I was very disappointed, as the place looked lovely in the photos and clearly has potential

Great base for St Albans...

Liked: Location, closeness to the city centre. Beautiful gardens. On site parking.
Disliked: Room was very warm and seemed slightly damp (we had a garden room). We had to leave the door to the garden open during the night as it was too uncomfortable in the heat of the room. There wasn't a fan in the bathroom, so all the heat and steam came into the bedroom.

Liked: Beautiful setting in a quiet, quintessential English small town.Have been staying there since 1990.NEVER disappoints.First rate hospitality

The location made it for...

Liked: Location. So close to good shops and restaurants.
Disliked: Poor decorative condition. Old carpet on stairs, wallpaper peeling off. Too bare and uninviting. Public rooms had not atmosphere. Needs rugs on the floors. Service patchy. £30 for two champagnes served in ugly glassware.
