St Michael's Manor Hotel - St Albans

Exceptional

Excellent stay.

Liked: Comfortable big beds, excellent food, helpful and friendly staff. Also a beautiful garden and lake to relax by.

Lovely hotel, well managed grounds....

Liked: Beautiful historic building. Stunning well cared for natural grounds with a lake.Excellent location, close to town centre.Upgraded to a spacious downstairs room over looking the lake as currently experiencing mobility issues. Spacious well appointed room with excellent facilities.Amazing breakfast, fresh fruit, bread, yoghurt and cooked breakfast.
Disliked: The evening bar man was on his own and there was a delay of over 15 minutes in being served. Reception unable to help. The barman was speaking (not serving drinks, speaking) to another customer exclusively during this time and when asked for assistance with an apology for interruption, the other customer was abrasive and rude for interrupting their conversation and appeared under the influence of alcohol. I understand individual customer attention, but not at the expense of other waiting customers. The barman said nothing to appease this situation, I’m unsure if he even realised we were waiting at this time. This could easily have been managed with additional staff.

An excellent hotel to stay...

Liked: A very well breakfast set up in the restaurant. Exceptionally nice to see a proper menu on the table to peruse. I had eggs perfectly cooked. Bathroom was amazing with a great walk in power shower.
Disliked: There was nothing that could have been improved.

An outstanding, relaxing and tranquil...

Liked: The location was great the surrounding grounds were beautiful and the breakfast was excellent! Really enjoyed our stay and will be returning soon.
Disliked: The creaking old floor boards just outside our room which kept us up some of the night when people walked by.

Liked: Breakfast was excellent. Beautiful grounds with a lake. Close to the Cathedral.
Disliked: No bath in the room - just a shower.
