Lynne, Liege, visiting New Cross Inn London Fri, 30 September 2022

Unpleasant staff. Lots of noise. Not worth the price. Kitchen closed at 1p.m. on a Saturday. I wouldn't go back ever.

Liked: Close to train station.
Disliked: Pretty much everything.

Bed bugs, don't stay here

Liked: The neighborhood is nice, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and a short walk to the river, public transportation, and the main Greenwich sights. Curtains on the beds.
Disliked: There were bed bugs. I was on a bottom bunk bed near the door in the 12-bed dorm (room 6 I think) and my bed had bed bugs. Got bitten all over and actually saw one of the bugs crawling across the bed. When I informed staff and requested to check out early, they refunded me for the nights I hadn't yet stayed, but not for the nights I did stay getting eaten alive by bugs. So I got to pay to be bitten in an unhygenic environment. What's even worse is that not a single member of staff apologised to me, which I thought was very unprofessional and quite frankly appalling. Other negative things: the bathrooms all stank strongly of urine at all times even after they had been cleaned, most of the toilets either didn't flush properly or were out of order, the dorm room was so hot and stuffy even with the window open 24/7, you couldn't even sit up in bed if you had a bottom or middle bunk (no space), the lockers are unusable if you have a wire lock, the common area is in a windowless basement and therefore also stuffy and unappealing, no hooks or anywhere to hang up your wet towel in the dorm after you shower. They call themselves a backpacker hostel but most of the people staying there don't seem to be backpackers, there isn't the typical young hostel atmosphere, the guests are mostly middle aged men. The "mixed" dorm is 99% men, if you're a young woman alone I really don't recommend it as I was very uncomfortable and didn't feel safe. Also lots of men snored or started talking amongst themselves at 6am which disrupted everyone else's sleep. I've stayed in the cheapest hostels in the cheapest countries all around the world, probably stayed in hundreds of hostels at this point, so I am not usually fussy and will put up with a lot but this hostel was just awful and I certainly didn't expect such low quality in London.
