Liked: This was our 2 nd stay at the St Charles. The location was perfect. Zac, the hotel manager was delightful. Rooms were clean, wall air conditioner was a plus as was the on site laundry room. All of Hudson was walkable from the location. Great value.

A budget hotel at best...

Liked: We arrived at the hotel, and we were grateful to have parking and an intown location. There was a confusion about our room. Apparently the room we had reserved had been given to someone else. The night manager called the manager and they managed to find a good solution, but it took about 35 - 45 minutes before we could be settled in the room. The manager was courteous and tried to accommodate us. The hotel is convenient to downtown Hudson, and there have been obvious cosmetic work done on the property, it is still somewhat dingy.
Disliked: The rooms have been somewhat more modernized but all is cosmetic. This hotel needs a complete tear out and renovation to justify the prices they charge. Hudson is an expensive address, but this hotel does not have a standard that merits the price. I would never rate it above a ** or *** property. The breakfast was a chain hotel type of breakfast. And though the staff were very helpful, the hotel is understaffed and during the weekend if the hotel is very busy, there is insufficient coverage. This is an owner and management problem, not a staff problem.
