Very poor

Liked: There was a good restaurant behind the lodging
Disliked: While we had received an email saying that the restaurant closed, we did not know that the hotel itself was closed down too. We were given a little lodge behind the hotel and while it was large it was also old with lumpy beds and a grimy bathroom. Even if this place reopened with a new owner, I definitely wouldn't stay in the lodges unless they were completely refurbished. I can't speak for the hotel as we only saw the lobby.

Okay

Liked: We were upgraded at no extra cost to one of the chalets outside the hotel. It was lovely and warm, and spacious.
Disliked: When we arrived (and eventually found a member of staff), we were told that unfortunately the hotel was closed and that we would have to be upgraded to the chalet. We were relieved about this as the hotel looked really grubby and outdated. We think that they had had so few bookings that they closed the hotel.

Barely adequate an and disappointing...

Liked: Room was clean and bed comfortable.Staff made contact on day of arriving to let us know how to access our room.
Disliked: We had already been informed that kitchen would be shut and therefore we could not buy breakfast or evening meals alongside our room, but we were still expecting a room IN a hotel with proper heating whereas we had a chalet in a car park We had to ask for an additional heater as the small one on the wall in the chalet did not give adequate heat ( this was provided quickly)As a hotel we expected daily cleaning. This did not happen. Tea making facilities were provided (tick) but we had no means of washing up our cups other than running them under a hot tap in the bathroom and using our face towels to dry them. There was a kitchen area but it was bare and only had cold water to the sink!In the bathroom there was a water heater over the sink and an electric shower. Neither of these gave much water flow, or got that warm. Rinsing in the shower took a lot longer than expected as a result. No staff on site while we were there

A sad stop in our...

Liked: Room was cold - no heating and weather was raining and miserable so a warm welcoming hotel would have been good. Reception gave us an electric heater which warmed us us well. Reception staff were helpful and apologetic.
Disliked: Room was in the main building. No lift to 1st floorRoom seemed to be in the process of refurbishing from old-style furniture and noisy fan extractor in en-suite,
