South T Motel

A great value!

Liked: We had a spacious room, the bed was comfortable, it was a great location! Spencer seems like a great small town—we hope to return and spend more time there.
Disliked: The only thing that comes to mind is that there wasn’t a porch light outside our entrance.

Very good

Liked: There is no breakfast offered here.
Disliked: The desk chair in my room, 41, needs to be thrown in the dumpster and replaced with a new chair. The cigarette burn holes, no arm pad leaving the rivet exposed to scrape your arm.

Poor

Disliked: Should have been woken up when flooding was eminent in the parking lot at Spencer Iowa. No one ever knocked on the door and when I left I was wading in ankle deep water.

Liked: The low key, low cost but good enough state of the building. The ease of checking in.
Disliked: That the window screen had one big and several small holes. I would've liked to sleep with the window open as the nights were cool enough but didn't for fear of bats, insects etc. So we ran the air conditioner all night both nights. I would think the cost of replacing the screen would be less than the cost of electricity for the ac. Also the seeming presence of the homeless couple behind the motel (?) was a little off putting. We could hear them out there both nights talking and packing their bicycle trailer with whatever that pile of stuff behind the motel was.
