Exceptional

This is no frills accommodation....

Liked: Great location and cheap
Disliked: Air conditioner blowing dust all over the bed.

A nice stay.

Liked: It's great to have a lift. Travelling alone, I find the room size is fine. The shower has plenty of room and the water pressure is very strong and the temperature is hot.
Disliked: I don't find it this way, but it all depends on how a couple feels about a smaller size room. It's certainly more than adequate for someone on their own.

No onsite restaurant any more,...

Liked: I love this place. The large gorgeous reception is so cozy and welcoming and always smells so good. I've stayed many times. Affordable.
Disliked: Not that I don't like it, but there are no meals on site any more. When it was Song (run by the YWCA) they did basic light breakfast. As Hotel Hacienda they ran a taqueria in the evenings when they started up, but don't have it any more. They have lovely tables in the reception area, making it ideal for Uber Eats, Door dash, Menulog etc.

Ask for coffee sachets and...

Liked: It's a nice short downhill walk from Redfern station. Easy walk to central and good value.
Disliked: I've stayed here quite a few times and thought that the barista coffee served now between 7am to 9am was free as they don't provide coffee sachets and electric kettles in the rooms. There was a charge ($3) for the barista coffee in the mornings, but you can request coffee sachets, paper cups and an electric kettle for your room if you want (free). It wouldn't stop me staying here, I'm overall very happy.
