The Spotlight on Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square

Stylish, art-filled stay in the heart of Philly

Modern and welcoming, the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square offers a polished, boutique-style experience in Center City. Just a short walk or ride from Philly’s top concert venues, this hotel blends comfort, convenience, and a touch of culture—thanks to its rotating in-house art gallery. Whether you're in town for a headline show or a weekend of music and sightseeing, this spot puts you right where you want to be.

Why Concert-goers love it

The hotel’s central location makes getting to shows a breeze—whether you're headed to the Wells Fargo Center or a smaller venue nearby. After the encore, you’re just minutes from your bed, and the vibe back at the hotel is peaceful enough for a solid night’s sleep. With a 4:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM checkout, there’s a bit of flexibility for travelers arriving from out of town or sleeping in post-gig. Public transit, rideshares, and walkability all score high here.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a stylish home base
Solo travelers catching a dream show
Couples planning a concert weekend getaway
Fans who want a quieter space to unwind post-show
Budget-conscious music lovers who still want quality and location

Food and Drink Options

Fuel up or wind down at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, located right inside the hotel and open late for post-show bites. The Breakfast Café offers simple grab-and-go options for those slow-moving mornings. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the central location means you’re surrounded by walkable dining options, including casual late-night eats.

Nightlife Options

While there's no live music venue on-site, the hotel is in the middle of Philly’s bustling nightlife scene. Within a few blocks, you’ll find craft cocktail bars, laid-back lounges, and spots with local live music. It’s easy to keep the party going—or just enjoy a quiet nightcap nearby.

What People Say

Guests rave about the clean, spacious rooms, friendly staff, and the unbeatable location for exploring the city. Many love the artistic vibe of the hotel’s lobby gallery and the convenience of having a top-notch steakhouse right downstairs. Travelers also note how easy it is to get to venues and back without hassle.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the hotel can get busy during major events, so the elevators may be a bit slow during peak times. While the hotel doesn’t have a full-service breakfast, the grab-and-go café does the trick for most.

The Bottom Line

If you're headed to Philadelphia for a concert, Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square offers the perfect mix of location, comfort, and post-show relaxation.

Liked: Rien
Disliked: I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, my experience was far below expectations, and I feel compelled to bring several issues to your attention. From the moment I arrived, I was met with unprofessional and discourteous service. In particular, an older man who claimed to be from security and was stationed near the pool behaved in an extremely rude and dismissive manner. When I attempted to address the issue, he simply stated that he did not care if I complained and refused to offer even a basic apology. This kind of attitude is unacceptable in any service environment—especially in hospitality, where guest comfort and respect should be a priority.Throughout my stay, the lack of amenities added to my disappointment. Despite what was advertised, there was no breakfast, no dinner service, and no room service available. I also requested a late check-out and was willing to pay extra for it, yet this was denied without any flexibility or explanation.I must stress that I came to your hotel expecting rest, relaxation, and decent service. What I encountered, however, was the opposite—an experience that turned out to be among the worst I’ve had during my travels. The staff appeared untrained and uninterested in the well-being of the guests. Smiling, courtesy, and professionalism were completely absent. Moreover, some staff members expected tips despite providing no quality service whatsoever.I hope you take this feedback seriously and use it to improve the professionalism, training, and overall hospitality at your property. Guests deserve to feel welcomed and valued—not disrespected and ignored.I would appreciate a response to this message and some form of compensation or resolution for the distress and inconvenience caused.

I do not recommend.

Liked: The bed was comfortable
Disliked: Dear Management,I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, the overall experience was far below the standard I expected, and I feel compelled to bring several issues to your attention.1. Unreasonable Parking ChargesUpon arrival, I was shocked by the parking policy. As hotel guests, we expected to benefit from the $20 rate for 10 hours, as clearly indicated. However, the valet and receptionist insisted we pay the full amount of $56, stating it was mandatory for guests. This was misleading and felt like an unfair charge.2. Unwelcoming and Unprofessional Front Office BehaviorMr. David, the Front Office Manager, was extremely unprofessional and impolite. After a 10-hour flight, we arrived exhausted and simply wanted to check in. Despite our early request at 12:00 PM and our willingness to pay extra for early check-in, we were made to wait until around 4:00 PM. Mr. David showed no intention of helping and gave us one of the worst rooms—with a horrible view of a black wall on the second floor. Meanwhile, other guests were checked in ahead of us. This felt disrespectful and showed a complete lack of hospitality.3. Serious Security ConcernsOne of the most alarming issues was the lack of hotel security. While guests use their key cards to access the building, we noticed that anyone could enter through the second door near the parking lot without any control. This raises major safety concerns and makes guests feel unprotected.Overall, I am extremely disappointed with how we were treated and the lack of professionalism shown throughout our stay. I sincerely hope these issues will be addressed seriously, as no guest should feel unwelcome, unsafe, or mistreated.
