Sonesta Essential Hotel Blue Springs

Disappointing

Liked: The hotel was easy to find an access from I-70, and it is a quick drive to get to the city center. Everyone we met at the front desk was friendly and helped us as needed. The room and bathroom were clean, and we found the beds to be comfortable.
Disliked: During our visit, the room remained extremely humid, to the point where the carpet and our belongings were damp, and there was a musty smell in the room. Many of the fixtures in the room need maintenance: there were some outlets not working, damage to the lamps, rust visible on the refrigerator, etc. We'd consider none of these things to be unacceptable individually, but the sum of a all these small things was a room that felt like it has seen a lot of wear and tear. The bathroom was small but was in good condition and clean. We liked that the breakfast had some hot items, but none of it was particularly good quality.

Liked: Location and staff
Disliked: It is a property that appears to have been rehabbed. Outside looked good and was in a quiet safe area. But the interior of the hotel could use a good cleaning. Our room was fine but t hallway carpets were worn, bugs in elevator fluorescent light (look up).

Disliked: Mold was growing on the lampshade in the room we stayed in, as well as the tv had a high pitch noise if you left it on for longer than 10 minutes

Decent Value

Liked: The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. There are lots of food choices nearby.
Disliked: The lamp next to the bed had a broken switch and wouldn't turn on. The room was a little odd and dated.

Disappointing

Liked: The location was easy to get to. They did remolding. The room wasn't bad. The maintenance man is very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of shows on their TV. A nice charging base.
Disliked: The breakfast was terrible. I don't think they have an over to actually cook with. I was so disappointed. Eggs watery, potatoes taste microwaved, no flavor, corn??, sausage from crockpot. It just wasn't good. No waffles or pancakes.

Disliked: Not walking distance to restaurants

Liked: Very nice staff and helpful.
Disliked: Didn't like that they charge an extra fee for using electricity. Seems like a cheap trick to get a few more dollars out of people.
