Sonesta ES Suites Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile - Medical

Booked a room on 8/25/14 for a concert on 10/18/14. Called twice that day to confirm my reservation since I booked so far in advance. We showed up to check into the hotel a half an hour before we had to be at the show, only for the front desk to tell me the hotel was full and that they did not have a room for us to stay in. They offered us a room 20 miles away - I told them that was not going to work because we were out of town and had not only booked in advance, but called twice that day to confirm. They could not tell me why someone didn't mention this issue during the two prior calls that day. They ended up finding us a room next door and it worked out OK, but it took them almost 25 minutes to rectify the situation and we were late for the concert. Overall they did fix the issue but am not satisfied with the lack of communication, and the fact I watched them check in three additional customers after they told us they were at capacity.

Disliked: Only two elevators for many people and the stairs do not lead to the first floor. Breakfast was very oily

Comfy stay boring breakfast

Liked: Very comfortable for a long stay. Beds comfy. Location safe and convenient.
Disliked: They did not clean the rooms as promised. Had to leave trash in the hall for removal. Breakfast was very dull. Same thing everday with items missing as week progressed.

Liked: The in-room kitchen was convenient, the location was great for getting around, and it was nice that the hotel was pet-friendly.
Disliked: Disappointing stay. Our "city view" was just someone's roof. Valet service was a mess, we waited over an hour for our car, even with the steep parking fee, while those who tipped were prioritized. Valet even nearly caused a crash right in front of us. One elevator was out, creating a packed, unsafe crowd with no stair access. No slippers, no baggage help at 5am, and the area around the hotel had an unpleasant smell.
