Sonesta ES Suites Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile - Medical

Booked a room on 8/25/14 for a concert on 10/18/14. Called twice that day to confirm my reservation since I booked so far in advance. We showed up to check into the hotel a half an hour before we had to be at the show, only for the front desk to tell me the hotel was full and that they did not have a room for us to stay in. They offered us a room 20 miles away - I told them that was not going to work because we were out of town and had not only booked in advance, but called twice that day to confirm. They could not tell me why someone didn't mention this issue during the two prior calls that day. They ended up finding us a room next door and it worked out OK, but it took them almost 25 minutes to rectify the situation and we were late for the concert. Overall they did fix the issue but am not satisfied with the lack of communication, and the fact I watched them check in three additional customers after they told us they were at capacity.

Enjoyable

Liked: Clean, comfortable and very helpful staff!
Disliked: Was a bit surprised that my sheets on my bed were not changed within the 2 weeks I stayed!

I had a great time...

Liked: I loved that the hotel was so close to almost all of the attractions I visited. It was so many restaurants in the area. It was so close to the beach. I enjoyed being able to walk the entire time as everything was so close. There was a store literally around the corner and you could purchase anything you needed. The hotel had breakfast daily. The hotel was clean. I had a two bedroom suite and it slept myself in addition to four other adults comfortably. I was nervous about the layout, but it was so spacious. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean.
Disliked: The bathroom was too small. That would be the only thing I didn't like. Otherwise, everything was spot on.

Fun stay downtown

Liked: Sonesta was a very fun place to stay. It was conveniently located right downtown just a couple blocks from the lake. The staff was very nice and the rooms were spacious. The beds were also very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. The breakfast was exceptional. One bonus that my kids loved was the key cards with animal portraits on them. We would definitely stay here again.
Disliked: The only negative was that there was no parking for our large SUV with a storage compartment in the underground parking, so my husband had to remove the storage thing, but what can you expect in downtown Chicago? And the valet staff was very helpful.

Liked: Everyone at the front desk was super helpful, especially Jamal. Breakfast was what had expected, the rooms were big, so it didn't feel cramped, the laundry onsite was super helpful. And the gym was also adequate. The coffee station was a welcome perk.
Disliked: Nothing in particular.
