Why Concert-goers love it

Just a short drive from both Southampton and Portsmouth venues, the Solent Hotel and Spa offers the best of both worlds: quick access to shows with a restful, quiet escape afterward. The hotel is conveniently located near the M27, making late-night transport by car or taxi a breeze. Flexible check-in from 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM gives you time to sleep in after a big night.

  • Budget-conscious music lovers wanting value with style

Food and Drink Options

Hungry after a gig? The on-site FYR Restaurant & Grill offers locally sourced grilled meats and seafood in a live kitchen setting, with dining on the Al Fresco terrace. For something more casual, Parson’s Collar next door has home-cooked meals, a pizza oven, and even its own ice cream parlor. While 24/7 room service isn't listed, the variety of dining options and late-night pub atmosphere hit the spot. Breakfast is available the next morning—perfect for post-show recovery.

Nightlife Options

While you won’t find a club inside the hotel, Parson’s Collar pub offers a relaxed spot to grab a drink before or after your show. Thwaites beers and a cozy country-pub setting make it a great place to debrief after a concert. For something livelier, the nightlife of Portsmouth or Southampton is just a short drive away.

What People Say

Guests rave about the spotless rooms, friendly staff, and the tranquil spa facilities. Many mention how quiet the location is despite being near major cities, and the food consistently earns high marks. The hotel’s convenience to the motorway is a big plus for travelers heading to events.

Areas for Improvement

The spa and leisure facilities incur an additional cost, which might surprise some guests. Also, while the location is peaceful, it’s a bit remote if you’re not driving—so plan transport accordingly.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a show in Portsmouth or Southampton and want a relaxing, upscale place to recharge, the Solent Hotel and Spa delivers comfort, convenience, and a touch of luxury.

Really great facilities, comfortable and...

Liked: Lovely room with a lot of lighting options which I love! Plenty of plug sockets - not by bed thoughFridge in room was amazing and fresh milk dispenser for drinks and filtered water in the corridor(so be sure to prepare )Lavazza coffee pod machine in the room was very well received for the morning Fluffy robes and slippers in the wardrobe Comfortable bed and pillows Convenient location for Southampton and Portsmouth
Disliked: The shower was powerful my husband loved it but personally it was too powerful for me! And not a fan of shower curtains but it is what it is. But that’s it everything was great

Very dissappointing. Overpriced.

Liked: Nothing extraordinary
Disliked: The first picture on booking.com is pool which was the reason why we chose this hotel. BUT we had to pay extra after you book the hotel. Air con system was broken, staff knew about it and they didn’t tell us. We were given a room on the ground floor, not ideal to open windows. But it was hot, no air circulation.

Very pleasant, friendly, helpful staff,...

Liked: Very comfortable atmosphere, welcoming, catered for all requirements. Layout worked well, terrace and garden very nice
Disliked: Unfortunately the restaurant staff seemed very busy even though they all seemed to be working hard. Too long a queue to check in at the restaurant desk at busy times. The team seemed to be generally on the more inexperienced side and while all very pleasant and certainly trying their best, it was clear at busy breakfast and dinner times that they were not coping - the older team members appeared to be running around trying to keep things under control. A number of mistakes were being made across the board. Having said that the whole bar-restaurant-terrace-outdoor grill experience was excellent and the staff certainly all very friendly.

Nice enough rooms, bed was...

Liked: The options of having different pillows I thought was great and the shower was powerful, although I’m not a fan of shower curtains. The bed was comfortable and the room had plenty of space. There was plenty of room for parking and reception were helpful when you attended reception. We had a meal there in the evening which was really nice and they checked everything was ok. There is also a pub there to eat at as well as the restaurant.
Disliked: Couldn’t get hold of reception internally. Had to ring the main number which was frustrating. There was nothing in the room to say you had to walk to the end of the corridor to get milk and water, so be warned as I’d just got out the shower and wanted a cup of tea. This is a good idea, if you know about it. It also isn’t clear that you need to pay for car parking and how much it is when you book. There were blonde hairs in my room (not mine as I have dark hair). The room was tired and needed a bit of attention but was pleasant enough. There was a queue of 5 people for breakfast which was really really slow, and my colleagues had finished their breakfast by the time I sat down. Hearing people in the queue, this seems to always be an issue which is ongoing as they don’t have a toaster or coffee machine and take your order for these, which holds up the queue. This is an easy fix and would make the experience so much better.
