Bucolic, Beautiful property on the...

Liked: Location, location, location! This property has 300 feet of bay waterfront access. The views, the outdoor grills and the piers were a dream to enjoy. We rented cottage 1A, which is connected to Cottage 1. Inside was a cozy, updated space with a mini kitchen (coffee pot, fridge and microwave), small bathroom with a shower, and the bonus of a jacuzzi tub and a fireplace in addition to 2 comfy queen size beds. Owner pride is obvious here. We were left alone to enjoy the space and our days as we chose to. Fantastic!
Disliked: We are agreeable sorts who don't find much to complain about. I am a caffeine fantastic, and the coffee pot made excellent coffee. It just took a bit longer than I'm used to. Is it bad to have to slow down on a vacation?

Liked: We spent a lovely holiday weekend at this hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and matched the description. The best part was the waterfront view!

Bad experience that should have...

Liked: The location was convenient accessing the Sturgeon Bay area.
Disliked: We booked a deluxe double room through Booking.com. This was confirmed with Booking.com. When we arrived, we were told our room was a boat that was docked on the Marina. No where on the facility's direct website or Booking.com was a boat classified as a room rental. While the boat had a bathroom, it was suggested by the owner to use their communal bathroom for showering. We accepted the boat because there was no alternative room offered and being the 4th of July weekend there was no hope of finding another room in the area. The boat became so uncomfortable for us, as seniors, that we left a day early losing the room fee for the extra day. We feel we should have been contacted to give us the option of accepting the boat or cancelling our reservation. It appears that they overbooked rooms for this timeframe which we feel is a totally unacceptable business practice. If anyone plans on booking this hotel make sure you know what kind of room you are getting.

Disliked: Only improvement would be if booking would have allowed me to modify my reservation. This would have been allowed if I had booked through the hotel itself.
