Check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is at 10:00.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a short walk or quick ride from some of Edinburgh’s top music venues. Whether you're heading to a packed arena show or a cozy club gig, getting there is easy thanks to the hostel’s central location. After the show, you can return to a buzzing atmosphere at Bar50, or retreat to your room for some quiet downtime. The hostel's flexible mix of room types also makes it easy to travel with friends or go solo.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a lively, budget-friendly base
  • Solo travelers chasing a dream setlist
  • Couples wanting to mix music with a city break
  • Fans who need a quieter space after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t want to skimp on location or atmosphere

Food and Drink Options

Bar50 offers casual dining and drinks until late, and there are plenty of walkable food options nearby for pre-concert meals or late-night bites. Breakfast is available and served with the understanding that not everyone is an early riser—great news after a late gig. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the hostel vibe means food and conversation are just outside your door.

Nightlife Options

Bar50 isn’t just convenient—it’s one of Edinburgh’s well-known nightlife spots, with themed nights and events. Plus, you’re just steps from the city’s best pubs, clubs, and live music venues. Whether you're in the mood for chill craft beers or a full-blown afterparty, you’ll find something nearby.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, central location, and sociable atmosphere. Many mention how easy it is to meet fellow travelers, and how the hostel balances fun with comfort. Reviews often highlight the clean rooms, good shower pressure, and the energetic but safe environment.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms can be a bit noisy if you're right above the bar or near a busy hallway—bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Also, the 10:00 check-out might feel a bit early after a long night, but it's manageable with a good coffee from the bar.

The Bottom Line

A fun, affordable, and perfectly located base for music fans who want to soak up Edinburgh’s concert scene without missing a beat.

Ease of access to Old...

Liked: This is a hostel right near the Royal Mile of Edinburgh. It was clean, not rowdy, had a good communal kitchen and common areas. Easy to check in, just remember you will be "renting" towels or bring your own.
Disliked: It felt overpriced for the quality of the beds and the living space within the room. The beds were bunks, which was expected with bunk mattresses which were very firm.Space was so tight that with 4 persons, which was the number the room was set up for, there was no floor space to move around after putting the suitcases in the room.

Exceptional

Liked: I was in before my check in so I was able to leave my luggage at the hostel and did sightseeing. Paid 9 £ for breakfast. Bed was comfy and I staid in a 4 beds room, two bunk beds. I was on the bottom. Two other young ladies were there also. Everyone was polite and considerate. Great choice for overnight stay.
Disliked: There is nothing to report.

Could be better for the...

Liked: The location is good. Staff are friendly.
Disliked: It was quite difficult to find the reception at first. I had to ask a few people before I got there. The room didn't look the same as in the pictures. There were no curtains on the bed, and instead of lockers under the bed, there was a shelving unit (which was actually a nice surprise, but still, it wasn’t shown in the pictures). You also have to do your own bedding, and it took me quite a while because the sheet didn’t fit the mattress properly. I was really stressed about it because I had to rush to do it before my concert. I didn’t want to wake anyone up by doing it late at night. For the price we’re paying, I think they could at least put the sheets on the bed.The duvets had yellow stains on them, which didn't feel very clean or comfortable. There was also an old, worn-out sofa in the room. It's nice that the sofa was there, but it really looked like it needed replacing or at least the armrests should be repaired. Also, it was very loud outside even with the window closed, so I’d recommend bringing earplugs. Our room was divided into two smaller rooms, and the toilet and shower were in the one next to us. That’s okay, but a bit inconvenient, as you can’t tell if the people in the other room are asleep or if the bathroom is in use.

Central hostel but old installations

Liked: Good location.Nice open space and terrace.
Disliked: The hostel is quite old and provided no power outlets or lights for each bed. The WC and shower were together with no separation.
