Busy at Edinburgh

Very poor
Disliked: We booked our hotel for Edinburgh a little bit late so we didn’t have so much choice for a raisonnable price. This one was not cheap and very uncomfortable. I have never seen a mattress so thin and the whole bed was just so old. I guess it might be a good place for dorm but not for private room. The only good thing was the location.

Really good value
Liked: A good value establishment conveniently situated near the Royal Mile. Bar meal was very tasty.
Disliked: A bit noisy in the evenings (but does quieten down at a reasonable time).

Good location, sub par accommodation.
Liked: The location was ideal for attending gigs at Bannermans. It also had a cash machine on site which was handy for grabbing some money before I set off on my next trip. There's a handy wee button at reception for booking taxis which arrived quite promptly. The staff on reception were lovely and informative. Any time I messaged the hostel leading up to my stay, they got back to me in good time and provided me with all the information I requested. The shower in the room had a good water pressure and I had a nice wee table and stools in there too.
Disliked: First off, no TV in my room. I'm aware that it's a hostel but any others that I've stayed in previously have had one. The shower which as previously mentioned did have good pressure, was like some kind of water torture, going from tepid to freezing all the time. The window although tiny, need an upgrade, expected noise outside on a Saturday night but it sounded as if it was in my room beside me. Upon leaving the amount of people congregating in the foyer when trying to use the cash machine was intimidating. The bed was really uncomfortable and the room was cold. There was also no socket next to the mirror. Finally, the price for one night (£151) was absolutely ludicrous.
