Disappointing

Liked: The only thing I liked was the location off the interstate.
Disliked: I had reservations at the Sleep Inn hotel in Jacksonville, FL, from August 30 to 31, 2025. Initially, I thought this would be a nice hotel for a 2-day stay. The front desk clerk, Connie, was very helpful and polite during the check-in process. However, upon arriving at the room, I was greeted by a very bad, stuffy order. The room appeared as though it hadn't been cleaned in years, with a filthy rug. The bathroom doors and walls were dirty, and there was food on the floor, indicating that it hadn't been swept. The tub was also filthy, with a dirty mat inside. I contacted the front desk after 9:45 pm to report the room's condition and the smell. Connie offered me two alternative rooms to accommodate me. The first room smelled like urine and was stuffy, located on the first floor by the elevator. Connie then offered another room next to mine, room 210. After inspecting this room, I found a live roach crawling in the tub. I took off my shoe and killed it. I called Connie back and informed her that, given the late hour, I would appreciate some spray to eliminate the smell in my original room, and I would choose to stay there. Later, when I was preparing for bed, I spotted a second roach in my room. I had agreed to keep the room, and I ended up killing two roaches during my stay. I slept with every light available in the room. Connie offered to send housekeeping to clean my room at 10:00 am, but they knocked on my door at 9:00 am. to ask if I needed towels. After leaving the hotel to go shopping at Dollar Tree for candles, air freshener, and shower shoes, I concluded that this was the worst hotel I had seen in years. The rooms were very outdated. I would not recommend staying there. In fact, I didn't even eat the free breakfast or coffee after seeing two roaches during my stay.
