Mountain Views and Music Vibes at Skyline Lodge

Rustic charm meets modern comfort at Skyline Lodge, tucked away in the scenic mountain town of Highlands, North Carolina. With its cozy lodge-style architecture, serene forested surroundings, and a laid-back atmosphere, this is the perfect spot to unwind after a high-energy concert night. While it feels like a peaceful getaway, you'll still be within range of local music venues and downtown attractions.

Why Concert-goers love it

Concert fans appreciate the quiet ambiance of Skyline Lodge after a show. It's ideal for those who want to escape the crowds and wind down with a drink or meal on-site. While it’s about 57 miles from Asheville Regional Airport, the drive offers beautiful scenery, and free private parking makes coming and going easy. The mountain setting keeps things peaceful, so you can count on a solid night's sleep—essential after a late gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a weekend mountain escape with concert vibes
- Solo travelers catching a long-awaited show and craving a quiet retreat
- Couples making a romantic weekend of music and nature

Food and Drink Options

Skyline Lodge has an on-site restaurant serving delicious local cuisine—perfect for a pre-show dinner or a relaxing late-night bite. The bar is ideal for sipping craft cocktails or local brews before heading out or after returning from the show. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the lodge’s food options are satisfying and close at hand. Breakfast is available too, so you can refuel the next morning.

Nightlife Options

While the lodge itself is more about relaxation than rave, the on-site bar offers a cozy place to chat and unwind. For those wanting more action, nearby Highlands has a selection of wine bars, lounges, and low-key nightlife spots—all just a short drive away.

What People Say

Guests love the peaceful setting, friendly staff, and stylish rustic interiors. Many mention the clean, well-appointed rooms and the convenience of the on-site dining. Reviews highlight the “chill mountain vibe” and how it’s “just what you need after a loud, late night.”

Areas for Improvement

While the mountain location is part of the charm, it also means you’ll need a car to get around—public transportation is quite limited. Some guests wished for more nightlife options on-site, but most agree the serenity is worth it.

The Bottom Line

Skyline Lodge is a peaceful mountain retreat with just enough comfort and convenience to make it a top pick for concert-goers who want to relax and recharge after the show.

This is a 2 star...

Liked: The area the hotel was located within.
Disliked: None of the amenities mentioned were true except on site bar/restaurant. Extremely overpriced and 2 star hotel at best. I even had to change rooms due to broken items, and restaurant took several people before us even though we made a reservation.

Loud at nights, we needed...

Liked: The hotel is pretty, located in the woods, and the restaurant on site (Oak Steakhouse) is a really good high-end restaurant with a beautiful view.
Disliked: 1) There are no ramps at all at the property, so if you have a stroller or a wheelchair, do not stay at this hotel.2) They don't have breakfast there, they supposedly have breakfast items to buy at reception, but only some pastries and coffee, and on Saturday it was past 8.30am and they weren't open yet.3) On our last night, around 10:30pm we started to hear loud live music, first coming from the hall directly outside the rooms, and then from a patio area outside our balcony. We tried complaining but no one from the hotel was reachable at night. The next morning, when we complained at reception, they told us the music was from guests, that at night only 1 manager stays and that he didn't hear it from his room (perhaps he was lucky and his room was on the other side, but we heard it, music woke up our baby and didn't stop until past 12am). We got the feeling that guests are "left on their own" at night, and I didn't like it. We won't return to this hotel.

The stay was nice overall,...

Liked: The location and design of the hotel was perfect. Loved the comfy room and the heated bathroom floor was the best!
Disliked: We booked a room for 3 but there was no pull out bed or cot. We had to request an air mattress which deflated in the night, both nights it was used. The walls/floor seemed thin, as we could hear the people above us during our stay. It sounded like a rugby team practicing on our heads, but that’s not really something at fault to the lodge. The gutter on the patio was bent, causing it to keep it wet during our stay. And the room did smell a bit musty when we first entered, but we appreciated the dehumidifier.

Passable

Disliked: People outside of the room were loud in the courtyard area until about 1130 on a weeknight. I had to get up early the next morning and found that rather annoying
