Very good

Dump of an Hotel.
Liked: The 3 staff members who were on the bar on Saturday night were lovely, and that's what made it bearable for me.
Disliked: We arrived at approx 6.15pm Saturday night. Had to wait 10 mins before anyone came to check us in. The guy looked so scruffy and unprofessional. The property is very old and dirty looking, the reception area. Wood chip walls. We checked in, dropped our cases in rooms, and went down to where we had booked in for our meal. The table we were given was sticky, and underneath, it was full of crumbs and mess. After the food which was nice and the staff in bar were lovely, I relaxed a bit. BUT on going bk to our room for the night, I was shocked and disappointed to find the room we had paid £190 for the 1 night was grotty, and very unloved and very small. I'm not a snob at all, but for the price I expected alot better. Everything was mismatched and just very random. Curtains didn't close, and if u pulled them, they made a gap at one end. Bed wasn't made properly, very poor mattress with a topper on it. The doors were broke and scuffed in places and very poor quality, lock was rubbish also. Loads of dust on bedside lights. No blind up at bathroom window, there had been something, as a rail was still there with hooks. shower curtain black at the bottom. 3 cracks in bath panel. TV wasn't tuned in, and even if it had been, I couldn't have watched it, has it was at the bottom of the bed on a low table, so to low to watch if u were lay down. Stairs going up and down to rooms were very dirty on kick, edge boards. This room reminded me of a cut-price room I stayed in in Blackpool, which cost me £29 for the night for 2 of us. Absolutely horrified with this room for the price. We, meaning myself and Hubby, had brought my elderly uncle away for 2 nights. We stayed in Bamburgh Northumberland the 1st night, which was only an extra £10 for the night than this hotel and it felt like we were staying in a 5 star hotel. The room was stunning and exceptionally clean and comfortable.

I have stayed in nicer...
Liked: The only thing I can honestly say went well was the second morning when the waitress made an extra effort to make sure my order was not messed up as it was the previous morning.
Disliked: 1) Unable to get to sleep until gone midnight due to Room 20 being a small box room next to a stairwell, so had the noise of other guests talking, laughing and walking on the noisy wooden staircase. Added to this was the loud sound of running water behind another wall every time a guest flushed a toilet or took a shower. 2) The TV could not be plugged in without staff repositioning the TV onto the windowsill, which then meant it was behind the curtains if they were drawn, The staff had to move tea / coffee making facilities due to the TV now being where those were. However, on trying to make a cup of tea I discovered the (fixed) lead of the kettle would not reach the single available socket, resulting in having to put the kettle on the floor when boiling some water (Dangerous).3) I was the second guest to arrive in the breakfast room the first morning and sat down at a two-person table with many other empty tables around me, an elderly couple at another table being the only other guests at that time. A waitress came and took my order for eggs-Benedict and a cup of tea. 10 minutes later, a man and (I assume his son), entered the breakfast room and sat at the table next to mine and a different waitress came and took their order. After another ten minutes, I noticed this waitress bring the man 'EGGS-BENEDICT' (I do not remember what the son had). After confirming that the man had definitely been given the same as what I had ordered 20 minutes earlier, I made my way towards the kitchen door where I was met by the waitress that served the gentleman and I asked why I had not got my order but the gentleman in front of me had his even though he ordered it 10 minutes after me. I got: "I am terribly sorry sir, I will get yours straight away." Ten minutes later (30 minutes now gone by) I get my Eggs-benedict. On complaining at reception, the gentleman tried to claim they must have arrived before me 😒
