Cute little B&B - great...

Liked: Cute little B&B. We loved it from the moment arrived. Olivia who greed us and checked us in was pleasant and helpful. Manager came across as a real pro in hospitality business and made us feel home and taken care of. Everything was great until when we checked out…. with Lily….
Disliked: We were ready to check out around 10:40AM, we went to our car to load our luggage ourselves first (before returning the room key and check out) Our car was parked next to the staff office and there was only one person (Lily) in the office. Since the office’s back door was wide open to the parking lot, she must have seen us loading - we were obviously checking out, To return the room key and check out, we walked into the lobby from the backyard and rung the bell for assistance. Lily opened the door half way peeking and looking annoyed (saying nothing). We handed the key to her saying ‘we need to check out’ (with smile). She snatched the key saying ‘just okay’ and immediately went back into the office slamming the door closed. We waited in the lobby for nearly 10 minutes wondering what’s taking so long. We rung the bell again, no response, rung once again in a few minutes. She finally came out looking annoyed. We said ‘can we check out?’ to which she said ‘you can just leave, you are checked out.’ We asked ‘can we have the bill?’ to which she said ‘You didn’t ask for the bill’. We had to ask ‘please give us the bill for check out? It took her another 10 minutes to come back with the bill…. Someone so grumpy and bitter should never work at any hospitality business even if she is a part-timer or intern. There should be no front desk person who snatch the room key from the guest’s hand saying just ‘okay’ and consider that is a normal check out process. (even at the cheapest motel.). This check out process ruined our experience entirely after paying $1,400 for 2 nights.

One night is not enough...

Liked: This is a beautiful place to stay! We loved the feel and the decor of the house, and our room was beautifully appointed with very authentic antique furniture and art. The grounds are lovely with interesting plants and fountains. The breakfast and snacks provided were excellent, and the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. From the Simpson House, you can drive to almost any SB attraction in minutes, so we found the location to be excellent. It should be mentioned that our room was smaller than a typical hotel, and some bathrooms are separate from the room (but private). But overall, this was a delightful B & B, and we will return!
Disliked: Our bed was comfortable, but it was difficult to access it from both sides--too close to the wall. The water pressure was weak in our bathroom, so we will request a different room next time.
