Sheraton West Des Moines Hotel

Overpriced, poor amenities, inaccurate listing...

Liked: Location is good. Sheraton is a respected brand.
Disliked: Cost was extremely high. When we arrived, we were told we had to PAY FOR PARKING! in a giant lot that wasn't half full, just to extort more money. This is not New York City. It's on the outer edge of Des Moines. NO excuse for charging people for parking.Room was tiny. Vanity was tiny.No towel bars! Breakfast was just OK -- NO FRESH FRUIT, no yogurt, food flavors were not very good -- and we had to pay $15/person for that too. No access to stairs from ground floor. Overall, this was NOT a good experience, and we won't stay there again.

It was a fair visit

Liked: Answer questions quickly. Staff accommodate my wishes for my room.
Disliked: Bed was a bit worn. Always fell into the center of it when sleeping. The lamp shades were stained. The shower head had hard water stains on them so I cleaned them myself. Could not access calling the down button on one side of elevator on fifth floor. And parking was not explained upon arrival, and when I corrected my stay with the QR Code, I was charged parking twice.

Disappointing

Disliked: The elevators are a huge problem! Waiting in line for one for 35 minutes was absolutely unacceptable. That many rooms and levels you need to add at least 1-2 more. Also paying for parking was absurd. Your location isn’t downtown, that’s not even a charge that should be there

They charged me extra than...

Liked: I didn’t get the chance to eat the breakfast
Disliked: They charged me extra than other people who came to the wedding. They charged me $370 but other people were charged $167 and they couldn’t change mine till now. I’m still waiting for the manager to solve this problem.

Disappointing

Disliked: Someone didn't turn off the booking feature, and 4 of us needed rooms in other hotels. It but stress on us the guests, but the staff picking up the pieces
