Perfectly adequate for a relaxing...

Liked: Clean and comfortable plenty of room to move around nice grounds for walking.
Disliked: Separate bar area from restaurant.

Liked: The property is in serious need of renovation it’s very old and tired, it no more than a 2 1/2 star
Disliked: Rust taps, broken radiator broken bathroom tiles just very old

Not a great stay and...

Liked: The grounds of the property are lovely and there was one particular member of staff who was very helpful.
Disliked: On arrival to the room I realised I had booked an accessible room with no bath, I asked at reception if I could change this unfortunately they were fully booked so not a problem the error was my fault, when entering my room it was freezing, I looked for the remote for the heater there wasn’t one, I then looked for the remote for the telly and there wasn’t one for that either, I spoke to the same lady at reception and she assured me she would bring them to the room, which she did, I asked for an iron which she said should be in the wardrobe and there wasn’t one in there, so she fetched one for me I asked about ordering room service but the phone in the room wasn’t working, she came back to the room to take my order and when the meal came the kitchen had got the order wrong so she sorted my order out, I was quite disappointed I had asked for the burger without onion chutney and when I had the burger returned to me rather than making a new one they had just scrapped the onion chutney off leaving remnants of it on the burger. The lady did however give me a complimentary drink for all the trouble I had. Overall the experience was not good at all, but that one lady unfortunately I didn’t get her name she was very helpful and apologetic about everything.

Liked: Room was excellent for what is just their standard Classic Room.Very big, with a huge double bed, and had all required facilities expected.Coffee/tea making facilities also provided.

Good value

Liked: Some previous reviews said the decor was a bit tired. I did not find it so. The room I had was very well refurbished, and well maintained. The main hall and reception are decorated in a manner reminiscent of a club, which is entirely appropriate for a country house built in Victorian times, with gardens laid out by a famous designer of that period. Its a bit remote, since the adjoining village is very small, so the half board deal is in my view good value.
Disliked: The first key card did not work, and the operation of the key cards in the doors is a bit hit and miss. Its a long walk back to reception when the key card does not work. There is a small symbol on the card identifying which way round to insert it, but the staff did not explain this until questioned.
