Not worth 100+ a night....

Liked: Location was central, but right next to pubs and clubs, so noise may be an issue on a Friday or weekend.
Disliked: Arrived and there was no clear signage, only marker pen on the door handle, first red flag. you walk in through a dated Italian restaurant. When we got there building work was going on with the associated noise. When we finally found the ?reception? or bar. The two ladies didn?t seem to really know what was going on. They also admitted they had been drinking and one lady was well rather scantily dressed, unintentionally I?m sure but didn?t leave much to the imagination. They said we could have a choice of two rooms and we said the quieter, they laughed at this and said ?oh definitely room 25 then?..another Red flag.. they then offered a free complimentary drink which we appreciated but subsequently declined. After we reluctantly paid they explained where the room was and gave us the key. The room was small, with strange frosted windows, like those you expect in an 70s bathroom. Very basic towel and soap, just one towel and hand towel to share between us. Oh and a missing kettle, kettle stand.. no kettle. To be fair the kettle was suddenly returned about 10 mins later from one of the reception staff, but I worry why it was removed in the first place. Room was clean which was, to be honest, sort of unexpected. And bed looked fairly fancy and made of solid wood, but actually incredibly uncomfortable so much so my husband and I barely slept a wink with excruciating back ache. Not really what you expected from the photos and certainly not for the price, I would have paid 30-40 and not complained ? but not 100..

if the lights were sorted...

Liked: comfy and a great central location
Disliked: the property was fine, but the lights are mad. The bathroom lights are on a timer, so they go off when you?re in the shower. the bedroom has a fire evacuation light in it which doesn?t turn off, so you?re sleeping with a very bright green light on all night. or rather, not sleeping.

Disliked: Bit noisy at night at weekend, building next door was derelict but this is not the fault of the Shakespeare.

Ideal for football visitors.

Liked: Hotel was ideal for the reason I visited Halifax - it was a very short walk from the rail station and to Halifax Town FC Stadium. An ideal hotel when visiting for football.
Disliked: Was only there for one night - nothing to dislike.
