Cute hotel in an amazing...

Liked: I have stayed here in the past. The staff, location, convenience of the cafe, and vibe of the place is why I returned and will continue to do so each year that I'm in town for work.
Disliked: The mattress was a bit soft for me, but this is an individual preference.

Liked: Very nice staff, great coffee in the cafe, great location, comfortable and nice sized room.
Disliked: Would have liked a door that stayed locked between the hotel and cafe. And needs some updates on some of the furnishings and the hallway carpeting.

Really nice, much better than...

Liked: Perfect location, right by the cheeseboard and in north berkeley. The decor was cheerful and didn't have the sterile feel of the new high-rise hotel in Berkeley that I had previously stayed in. Good amenities: robe, hot chocolate and good quality tea, microwave. The room and bathroom were clean and more spacious than I expected, with a spacious balcony with chairs and a table. The bed was comfortable. There was a useable desk for working. The staff was personable and helpful.
Disliked: I could hear people talking from another room in the morning so perhaps the sound-proofing could be better but no problem at night. The view of the parking lot from the balcony on the first floor could have been better.
