Decent, simple stay, no frills....

Liked: Central Friendly staff and accommodating at receptionLift access Comfy bed, decent size room
Disliked: Bedroom had random vintage school desk , prefer a mirror and bigger table to put belonging. No tv. Breakfast - no decaf tea and no semi skimmed milkVery carb heavy breakfastWould like choice of meat/cheese, not cold toasties Urn/machine for hot water would be good , instead of a kettle

We enjoyed our short stay...

Liked: The location for Brighton Seafront was excellent, and despite the inclement weather, we enjoyed a stroll on the beach and visited the Lanes and other shopping attractions. We found the double bed comfortable.
Disliked: We were unable to determine whether the Continental Breakfast was included in our booking, despite searching online. We were only aware of a separate charge for breakfast after we left the breakfast area and spotted a small notice on the wall. We thought that the reception staff should have explained the arrangements for breakfast when we completed our registration on arrival. We were disappointed that the room had no wardrobe space, and formed the opinion that the limited facilities lent themselves to a backpackers' hostel. The hotel frontage facing the seafront was shabby and in need of refurbishment.

Pleasant and well-situated stay with...

Liked: The room was a perfect size for two people, and although it was tired, the facilities were still in good condition. The location looked over the sea, which was perfect and meant we were close to both the seafront, the pier and the shops. Staff were also exetremely helpful and were willing to help whenever needed. While breakfast was simple, there was enough to fill up on for the day and a good continental option.
Disliked: There wasn't much wrong with the stay. The only thing I found was that the shower wasn't overly powerful.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: We travel often and will always give an honest and fair review. The hotel was freshly painted with clean and tidy corridors and rooms, which was a relief as we used the reception toilets on arrival and were hit with the overwhelming smell of urine/damp.We had booked 1 night originally and extended this to 2. The hotel charged us a small upgrade fee to keep the bigger room/breakfast for both nights. The room itself was large and spacious, if anything better use could have been made of the space for a more comfortable stay. The location was superb and the staff friendly.
Disliked: Now the negatives and there were a few.Having read the reviews, there will always be a few negative ones but on the whole most seemed positive and we went with an open mind.Honestly I would have this classed as more of a hostel than hotel, it is definitely somewhere to just get your head down for a night and dump your bag. There are no T.Vs in the room, which is listed, however most people would assume that a hotel room comes with a t.v. they did specify that there was a shared t v room, lounge area, however this was shut for to private hire, which was not detailed and there was noone in there for the duration of our stay. Unless your planning to stare out your window, be prepared that you will have to go elsewhere. We had issues with the hot water, requiring a member of staffs intervention on the first night, however the following evening and morning, ice cold showers!!!!The rooms are spacious mainly due to the minimalist decor, however just a child's desk and chair meant that one of us was left standing or sitting on the bed, of which the mattress was in need of replacement.Additional seating and more surface area would have helped with juggling the beverage facilities about and provided some space for toiletries in the bathroom. We did have one night of heavy rain which showed up in the morning as a damp patch from floor to ceiling. One of the windows was also looked shut.Having been told we had breakfast included, the first morning I went down and was told it wasn't, only in our second day, despite paying the extra upgrade fee.The next morning whilst checking out around 8am, we were going to grab a quick bite but were told that it wasn't included in our room, we clarified that it was.The staff then offered to throw it in free of charge for the lack of hot water in the room, but then explained that there wasn't actually anything left, maybe just an orange if we were lucky!

West Beach Hostel, not hotel.

Liked: We go away often and will always give an honest and balanced review of where we stay. The location was great, the room was very clean and tidy, which was a relief as we used the downstairs toilets on arrival and were met with the smell of damp/urine.The hotel were able to accommodate us keeping the same room for a small upgrade fee, which we were grateful for as we booked 2 nights separately. The room was large and spacious with similar for the bathroom, if anything the minimalistic furniture throughout, left room to put some shelving so that there would have been somewhere for toiletries and additional seating. The lobby area and corridors were also exceptionally clean and freshly painted with nice colour schemes. This hotel is definitely suited to those passing through and just looking for a room to get your head down in for a night, it would be better classed as a hostel. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Disliked: We booked 2 nights separately and were told that breakfast was included. On the first morning was then told not for that day, only the second. However on going to grab something quickly on leaving at 8am on the second day was told we didn't have breakfast and there was nothing left, this was even after him stating he would throw in breakfast due to the cold showers??Be aware when booking that the hotel doesn't have T.Vs in the room and the site specifies a shared t v room, but this was out of bounds during the stay which wasn't covered beforehand, meaning you have to go out to another premises if you don't want to stay in your room staring out the window, one of which wouldn't open. The room was a double for 2 guests, but only 1 chair and an exceptionally small desk, which meant that there was no where for the other person to sit. This wouldn't't have been so bad if the mattress wasn't in need of replacing. If you wanted to make use of the tes/coffee facilities, it was a juggling act to balance the items on the limited surface. You can't help the weather, however we had a heavy night of rain which was evident through the wall in the morning that was floor to ceiling damp. There were issues with the hot water in our room, which a staff member came up to assist with as we didn't have any. Got it resolved the first night but the second night we were subjected to ice cold showers and again in the morning.Would we stay here again, no, based on the experience, facilities and value of money this is far overpriced, especially with a well known branded hotel further along the pier offering far more for £10 more.

Brilliant bed lovely place with...

Liked: The fridge in the room was a great addition, the breakfast was a good selection and the staff were so helpful too. The sea view room was great and so was the shower.
Disliked: There was a tv fixed on the wall but not in a place to watch it and didnt see any remote to work it.

Pleasant

Liked: We liked the location, and the room itself was clean and comfortable.
Disliked: We didn't like that there were too noisy. We heard every step of neighbors above us. It felt like they were walking on our heads, and this is not smth you expect for such money.
