Semi romantic night away but...
Liked: Lovely looking building not far from Woodbridge, easy to find. All of the staff were very nice and breakfast was good value. The bed was a nice size.
Disliked: This feels very much like your typical wedding hotel but not really in a good way. The interiors of the rooms and communal areas are very tired and a bit rough round the edges. Dinner was overpriced for what we got, it was under seasoned, the steak was overcooked and the wine was poor. Lastly, the spa was nice but the swimming pool and changing rooms floor were dirty.

Liked: Location, a very pretty location, close to the A12. The Hall is a beautiful building.
Disliked: Reception staff appeared unprofessional, this booking was for my father and his new partner, the member of staff referred to my father's partner as my mother, an easy mistake to make, I corrected her and informed her she was my dad's new partner, my mother passed away two years ago however the member of staff referred to her as my mother 3 times after being told otherwise which I found upsetting. Upon arrival I was told my father's room was upgraded which was a very nice gesture, I had booked a four poster bed in a larger room, they had upgraded him to a two storey room away from the main hotel, this was spacious with a lounge area and ground-floor bathroom. On the first floor was the bedroom with a W,.C. Baring in mind my father is 86 and his partner 87 having a bedroom on the first floor and bathroom on the ground-floor was not practical. My father wanted to have sandwiches as a light snack around 6.pm but was told he was too late they stopped doing sandwiches at 5pm... Seriously it's bread and butter. When I mentioned the above to the receptionist when checking out she became abrupt with me. Her persona changed, she stressed that my father could have complained, I said my father would never complain because this was my treat, his birthday present, I would not mind but then she tried to overcharge me by £50, the price should have been £122 for the room including breakfast she wanted to charge me £165, I'm sad to say that we will not be returning.

The stay was spoilt because...
Liked: Food was good, staff were good and the overall facilities were good.
Disliked: Suites were in external building not designed and built for accommodation. As such rooms were ridiculously noisy. Even though people in suite below were not loud, you could hear them taking all of the time. We were going to leave but the staff offered the bridal suite as an alternative room. This was fine with no one directly below. The problem with the room however, means that we would never book this hotel again.

Liked: Spacious room in an authentic medieval environment. The hotel is set in grounds and has a very attractive ambiance. Food and accommodation first rate,
