History meets modern comforts

Liked: Lovely staff, plentiful portions when eating in the restaurant, the communal areas are stunningly beautiful with original features dating back centuries.
Disliked: Short staffed at breakfast and felt sorry for the young gentleman that was running around making sure everyone was happy and some odd couple grumbled at him because the restaurant was full and they had to wait a couple of minutes. Another member of staff on duty would of eased the pressure on him

Lovely hotel but a little...

Liked: Rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel has lots of character and charm with lots of outside seating.
Disliked: We booked for dinner but when we arrived in the dining room non of the tables were set and there was only one other couple in there and they were sending their food back. We decided to eat at the pub across the road which was lovely.

Stunning Location, But the Heat...

Liked: The building itself is genuinely stunning, full of history and charm, and the room had real character. The complimentary toiletries were a nice surprise — better quality than expected. The breakfast in the morning was tasty and came out quickly, and the gentleman running the floor was clearly working very hard to keep things moving — he deserves a mention. Also, we had dinner at the nearby Cappadocia Restaurant (a local Turkish spot), and it was absolutely fantastic — great food, friendly staff, and a lovely, calm atmosphere. That ended up being one of the highlights of our stay.
Disliked: Prior to the visit, I requested some fizz as I am away a lot with my work, and I rarely see my misses between deployments. Due to this I asked for a bottle of fizz to celebrate this, the night before an employee replied to my message on booking.com confirming that this can be done and asked for when I wanted it, an hour and a half before arrival i replied on the messages for it to be ready around 1530hrs that day. Upon arrival, no fizz to be seen, no bother accidents happen, I messaged requesting whether we could have it later instead as someone forgot, no reply, upon leaving for dinner I asked at reception and they were happy for me to get one from the bar for when I returned, or for one to be taken up but the novelty had worn off by then so we decided not to.Further to this, unfortunately, the room was unbearably hot. When we arrived, it felt like stepping into a sauna — thick walls and zero airflow made it incredibly difficult to cool down. We pryed the only window open to the max, but this didn't help. There was only one tiny fan in the room, which barely circulated air unless your face was right in front of it. We struggled to sleep the entire night, waking up repeatedly drenched in sweat. For nearly £170 a night, we expected better ventilation or at least a decent fan. Also the glasses at breakfast weren’t clean, which is somewhat understandable with how busy it was — but it became more worrying when we later ordered two pints of Coke and halfway through hers, my partner noticed her glass was visibly dirty. For when we noticed corners are being cut on the hegeine here, we get it, not a big thing loads of specs on the glasses most probably from a dishwasher yet when it's repeatedly found throughout our stay we lose confidence in the service provided, we try and not be a snob but for the price paid that's a fair comment.

Exceptional

Liked: Sadly I did not check if rooms were air conditioned so is was extremely hot in our room, but I cannot complain as room was beautifully clean.
Disliked: Above comment The staff were so friendly especially Malachi, who served us our breakfast very swiftly and was very polite also the only member of staff for that shift and made light work of it. Really impressed 👏

Wd have stayetwice in last...

Liked: Location and beauty of building Peaceful
Disliked: Lacking ventilation Dated furnishings Pillow cases were well worn Shaving light not working Cracked bathroom floor tiles Breakfast offering lacking and what little there was required replenishment several times Egg Royal - muffin soggy and not toasted Coffee was from a machine Tea cups too smallAnd worst of all the young male assistant was left to manage reception, dining room and bar area. At one point there were eight tables occupied in dining room and the assistant was literally running from the dining room to the kitchen to the reception to the bar doing as much as he could and constantly apologising which is a sure sign there are issues. It wasn’t relaxing We actually chuckled to ourselves as it reminded us the TV series Fawlty Towers
