Liked: We have stayed in the Schwarzer Bär on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The rooms are top-notch, the breakfast is superb and parking is available on site. Your pet is also welcome and they even provide you with a little snack!
Disliked: If you want to stay there with your pet, only certain more expensive room types are available, which van make your stay rather pricey. Depending on the location of your room it might be perfectly quiet or rather noisy. If you're sensitive to noise, ask for a quiet room!

Schwarzer Baer is a nicely...
Liked: The staff was very friendly and pleasant. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Jena Planetarium. We were able to store our luggage between check out and actually leaving for the train station. Reception personnel called a taxi for us.
Disliked: No issues!

Liked: Location is pretty cool - very close to JenTower and center of the city.Also breakfast is really good and the coffee from the Nespresso machine!
Disliked: This time I got an old room with old furniture (like in the '90s) which I really didn't like. On my previous stay (in January) the personnel gave me a new, completely refurbished room.

We won’t be staying here...
Liked: The location is great. Everything in the city centre is within walking distance.The restaurant was okay and the food selection at breakfast was sufficient.
Disliked: The room was freezing! We stayed for one night in February and had to sleep with all our clothes on. The room temperature could be adjusted in theory but only for a while before the radiator reset to its default settings.When we first got to our room, one of our pillows was wet. The parking lot is tiny. It’s rather tricky to get to with a regularly sized or large car.The staff wasn’t particularly helpful or friendly. They actually told us to move to a smaller table at breakfast because “otherwise it doesn’t give a good impression”.
