Very good

Liked: The Schooner Hotel is also known as the ghost hotel, and this made the stay more interesting as each room had a ghost story attached. This history, alongside the modern extension and terrace, made for a fun stay. The staff were courteous and for us the Indian menu was a bonus.
Disliked: Parking was difficult in the town.

Pleasant

Liked: The staff really made our stay. They were friendly, helpful, and accommodating.
Disliked: The TV in our room had no channels available to view. Our room was also in need of a good spring clean. The decor could really do with sprucing up, and in areas seems to be an unusual combination of things, however, the history of the place itself and the lovely staff compensates for this.

Bad

Liked: LeavingThe view
Disliked: Hygiene and cleanliness are a massive issue. My toddler found a needle under the bedAlso found multiple rubbish items including eye mask, used medical bottle (insulin) and old gregs packets in the room.Blood smear on the bathroom wall. Bed frame held up by wooden boards Staff customer service training clearly hasn’t be taught. When issues were raised the member of staff on shift looked blankly into the distance.General awareness is lacking.

Pleasant

Liked: Staff very friendly and cooked breakfast very good . Ideal location in main street .Room was clean and new bathroom.
Disliked: Organisation poor at Breakfast as had to keep asking for basic things,at the station eg cups teabags etc .Very friendly tho so could not get annoyed as he was trying to do everything himself like a juggler ! Def needed more staff to clear tables fill up station etc.Could see place getting renovated so think trying to do too many jobs at once .

Very disappointing

Liked: The bed was comfortable
Disliked: When we closed the door of the first room offered we found ourselves locked in the room. Had to phone reception to be released. Were then offered another, smaller and dingy room. The bedside lights didn't work. The bathroom floor and door seemed unclean. On arrival we were told a vegetarian breakfast could not be provided so we breakfasted at a neighbouring hotel. There was a sad, dingy feel about the place. The location was perfect. Some of the staff tried to be helpful eg when we moved to a different room.

Schooner Inn Alnmouth

Liked: The owner has a big job to make this iconic hotel work...But, he's giving it a go so good luck! There are some bad reviews but we found it comfortable and staff friendly. Lovely hot shower too.
Disliked: Well there are no frills but as I've said, it's a huge project to manage.

Pleasant

Liked: Great value for money on the breakfast. Bathroom was newly refurbished and clean
Disliked: Evening menu was limited or Indian which kids wouldn’t eat. Rooms dated and there were stains on the bed sheet and towels. Also nowhere in the description does it mention that it is a haunted hotel so my wife was paranoid all night and didn’t sleep, the bed was also uncomfortable and no staff when we checked out
