The Schlosshotel Römischer Kaiser is one of Vienna's most traditional hotels offering an ideal city centre location in a quiet side street of Kärntner Straße. The Karlsplatz Underground Station (lines U4 U1 U2) can be reached within a 5-minute walk. Built in 1684 and family-owned since 1904 this small baroque palace is only a few minutes' walk from the State Opera the Hofburg Imperial Palace and St. Stephen's Cathedral. All rooms at the Schlosshotel Römischer Kaiser are fitted with a flat-screen TV with cable channels a laptop-sized safe and a minibar. Coffee is also available in the lobby 24 hours a day. A rich breakfast buffet is available from 07:30 to 11:00 and breakfast can also be consumed in the privacy of your room. Numerous restaurants bars and cafés are in the immediate vicinity of hotel as well as the Ringstraßengalerie an inner-city shopping mall. We would choose the hotel...

Liked: Pleasant staff, quiet with most sites within easy walking distance and a couple of decent restaurants just 50 metres away. Breakfast was good. The only grumble would be the cost of the airport taxi return journey. We had a surly driver who charged 51 euros against the 43 we arranged for the journey from the airport. I would strongly recommend using the CAT train. Nonetheless we enjoyed the hotel.
