Great location, super room, poor...

Liked: The location is great.The rooms are clean and big enough, the bathrooms with shower are great. We do want to come back.
Disliked: Overpriced breakfast (18 euros) for what it has to offer (not much variety, really bad coffee). Moreover, worse breakfast I had in a while. Sorry, but for the price we paid, we expected way more - better to go to one of the bakeries nearby (better quality for way lower price)

Disliked: breakfast was an additional cost, there were ants in the room and no kettle provided.

Central location, clean and modern

Liked: Great central location, recently refurbished the room was clean and modern. We travelled with our dog and they offered a dog bed and bowls.
Disliked: Shower had a difficult to close door that leaked water when used and they had an insanely early check in (closed at 7pm)

Perfect location to visit the...

Liked: We've stayed at the Schloss Hotel several times over the years. It's a beautiful old hotel just down the street from the Castle. Staff, breakfast, and parking were all great. We walked to a small pub for dinner and the food was excellent, although the people there didn't speak much English. From Braunfels, it's only and hour or so to the Rhine river valley and the scenery along the way is spectacular.
Disliked: The hotel is under different ownership since the last time we visited and has lost some of its personal charm. The biggest disappointment was the cozy little bar that used to be at a lower level. On our previous visit (over 10 years ago) there was a bartender and the locals would stop in and we could visit with them. it was such fun. On this trip the bar had been moved upstairs, no tap beer, no bartender, no locals and very sterile. There was an honor system to get a soda, beer, or other refreshment. We were the only ones there.
