OK Hotel but needs a...

Liked: Good location - close to city centre with good public transport links. Near a nice park and lake. Staff were generally helpful and dealt with issues as best they could. Decent breakfast with plenty of choice. Room clean and bed comfortable. Probably good for families with some dedicated spaces for children, though this was not applicable to us. Decent price, especially as it includes breakfast, for a supposedly 'four star' hotel - BUT SEE BELOW.
Disliked: I feel bad about some of the following criticism, as our stay at the hotel was generally OK. HOWEVER, this is billed as a four star hotel but it really doesn't live up to the billing. To be fair, the booking price is very reasonable, especially as it includes breakfast. The hotel is very large (over 500 rooms) and feels understaffed at reception, where there were regularly long queues of guests. This wasn't helped by an unnecessarily detailed form to be filled in at check-in. Three lifts for 500 rooms means crowded lifts. Breakfast times have to be booked in advance, because the dining room would be overwhelmed otherwise. It didn't matter that much to us but, due to the number of families with children, breakfast is pretty noisy and hectic - good for families but certainly not the place to be if you want a quiet relaxed breakfast. There were no coffee/tea making facilities in the room - you had to pay for a coffee from the machine in the lobby - and not even a bottle of water. The main issue, however, is the number of things that don't work at the hotel, which badly needs a major technical upgrade. Staff admitted that the air conditioning wasn't working throughout the hotel - we were given an electric fan, which was fine, but I doubt they have 500 fans! Wi Fi was sporadic and cut out regularly, our fridge didn't work, the bathroom light stayed on permanently, the bathroom sink drain overflowed, our electronic keys didn't work after one day and had to be replaced. The pool and sauna are poor. The two saunas are very small and the changing areas are cramped. The pool itself is very basic and far too small for the number of families in the hotel and we only stayed for a few minutes, as it wasn't comfortable.

Liked: Friendly staff, comfortable beds and the best hotel breakfast ever!
Disliked: Sauna and pool were a bit soulless.

Bad

Liked: the room given to us was very very warm even there is a fan i was suffocating.
Disliked: just the warmness of the room, even this is the coldest country every winter but be mindfull about the summer season, what if you have a customer who have a medical condition regarding warm places the couldn't endure

Good, safe bet

Liked: Convenient location for public transport, but a little out of the main city. Opposite a lovely park with a big lake that was perfect to run or walk around. The staff were lovely and very accommodating and the breakfast was very good. Good blackout curtains, which is essential for the Finnish summer.
Disliked: No tea or coffee making stuff in the room, which was missed.
