For 3 old friends getting...
Liked: Everything. The welcome with a glass of Prosecco, the friendly and helpful staff, the food and service. It was an easy relaxing and very happy experience from the start to finish.
Disliked: Some updating in the bedroom but nothing to spoil your visit. Cleanliness was excellent.

Disappointing my room was dark...
Liked: The staff were friendly and the room was fairly clean. There were a few comfort touches which you would expect but there was no personal touches. Staff more or less left you to get on with your stay. The bar staff were not friendly at all and the few I met rarely smiled. The view from my room was dreadful (406) also I am an elderly person (with athritis) and had to walk up 3 or 4 flights of stairs to get to my room which was VERY close to the top of the stairs. This inhibited my enjoyment of the facilities and the view as I really had to think twice about going up and down stairs. I guess some of this was my fault as should have mentioned it. Breakfast was good but there was a lot of food options which were missing and had to wait a while for eggs and bacon. Some diners were offered the choice of how eggs were cooked others weren't. Infact 20 mins before the end of the breakfast session there were no croissants, pastries etc.
Disliked: The room location, the friendliness of the bar staff, lack of the lift. There was a lift but it broke down.

You need more staff and...
Liked: beautiful views , lovely breakfast and comfy beds
Disliked: I was told they didn?t have enough spa robes so I went without. thanks could have any lunch due to staff shortage and that they had a GP training? I paid £350 for one night. couldn?t have lunch and told to be whisper when ordering a drink due to the GPS over hearing. Not happy that the GP training came first and took over the hotel. no one seemed to care about me and the money I spent for a special occasion. really disappointed I was treated second best .

Saunton Sands for a seaside...
Liked: The hotel occupies a stunning position directly above the huge Saunton Sands beach. Day trips to Croyde, Bude, Clovelly and many other attractive nearby towns are possible. For surfers, boards and wet suits can be hired and surfing lessons are available nearby. The hotel has a spa and gym. It is worth booking a room with a sea view - the alternative is to look out over the hotel's service area.
Disliked: Food is not the hotel's strong point. The menu changes regularly and there are choices to suit most tastes but meals do not reach the level that might be expected of a hotel of this size and standing. Attention to detail matters - one vegetarian member of our party was served a dish which contained meat despite having asked about this in advance. On this visit our room smelled of drains which did not go away completely when we opened windows.

Lovely view, very friendly and...
Liked: The reception and guest staff were fantastic and very friendly and were able to cater for various requests. The heated outdoor pool was very pleasant as was the easy access gate to the beach and the dry robes that we were able to use for sea swimming. Nice touch having a glass of fizz upon arrival. The view was also stunning.
Disliked: The restaurant in the evening was good but the breakfast was well below standards and left a bad taste in the mouth both literally and figuratively. For the £270 a night price I would be expecting being able to order a high quality breakfast, with the likes of Eggs benedict and Eggs Royale on the menu, rather than a buffet being provided. There were a couple of items that could be ordered but they took an hour to make and were not good at all. The fruit salad had clearly been cut with a knife that had been used to cut onions on both days and was very unpleasant and inedible. When paying the amount you pay for the hotel you simply cannot charge people £3-4 for a cappuccino at breakfast. It also took half an hour to come, the excuse we only have 1 machine is not good enough. For the size of the hotel get 2 machines.
