Comfortable and friendly

Liked: Really friendly and helpful staff. A high standard of furnishings in the bedrooms, especially the mattresses and bathroom. We appreciated the dual shower in the bathroom (one fixed, one handheld) to meet everyone’s needs. We stayed in the family room and it had been set up with cots owing to a mistake on the booking form, so this was swiftly rectified after check in while we enjoyed a drink. Breakfast was fine, a nice full English for the adults while the children preferred the pastries and yoghurts. We’d definitely return.

Lovely food, beautiful view, helpful...

Liked: The hotel is in a beautiful location with stunning views from the terrace. Our bedroom was comfortable but a bit dated. The bathroom had a bath and a shower. If you use the shower you can reach the soap and conditioner. I had a bath and could not reach, my husband bought a bar of soap for me. We stayed on the evening of Mothers Day and the restaurant had been very busy but was not too busy in the evening. There was a set menu of Sunday roasts and a vegetarian option. The food was very good but the portions, for us, were overwhelmingly large and we have good appetites. The waitress assured us that people do finish the food but we felt that unusually we wasted a lot by leaving a lot more than we usually do. We felt that the large portions created a waste of very good food. If you like large yorkshire puddings , this is the place, it will probably be the biggest one you have ever had!
Disliked: It is a good hotel with lovely food. The only real issue was the volume of food which we felt was an unnecessary waste. The bedroom was old fashioned but was comfortable so no real complaints to report. I prefer modern rooms with up to date media options.

Overall a pleasant and comfortable...

Liked: I like the character of the hotel, it makes a pleasant change to the usual business travel hotels which are more standardised and plain.
Disliked: Only negative is not all the rooms have been freshened up recently and my colleague’s room was next to a piece of equipment which kept switching on and off.
