The Spotlight on Sandyford Hotel

Comfort and Convenience Near Glasgow's Music Scene

Modern comfort meets classic hospitality at the Sandyford Hotel, a welcoming, family-run spot located in Glasgow’s vibrant West End. Just a 10-minute walk from the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and close to many of the city's top music venues, this hotel offers a stylish yet affordable base for your concert-filled getaway.

Rooms are bright and contemporary, each with a private bathroom, free 24-hour Wi-Fi, and tea/coffee facilities. The 24-hour reception makes it easy for late arrivals or post-concert check-ins, while the daily full Scottish breakfast is perfect after a big night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and the Sandyford delivers — you’re just minutes from Glasgow’s major venues. After the encore, walk back without hassle or worry about transport. Thanks to its quieter West End setting, you’ll get a peaceful night’s sleep despite being close to the action. The flexible 13:30 check-in is great if you’re arriving early for a day of music and exploring, and with late-night bus stops nearby, getting around after shows is easy.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a budget-friendly base near venues
  • Solo travelers chasing that bucket-list gig
  • Couples making a weekend of it
  • Fans seeking a quieter space to recharge post-concert
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want comfort

Food and Drink Options

Start your day right with a hearty full Scottish breakfast including bacon, sausage, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, and more — or opt for lighter choices like yogurt, croissants, and juice. While the hotel doesn’t offer late-night dining or room service, you’re just a short walk from plenty of West End eateries, ideal for grabbing a bite before or after a show.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself keeps things quiet, you’re steps from Sauchiehall Street’s buzzing nightlife. Whether you’re after a local pub, live music bar, or a relaxed lounge for a nightcap, it’s all nearby. Perfect for extending the night out without straying far.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, clean rooms, and excellent location for events and exploring the city. Many love the value for money and the generous breakfast. Solo and repeat travelers highlight the welcoming vibe that makes them feel at home.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms can be compact, and the hotel’s older building means there’s no lift — something to keep in mind if you have heavy bags. Some guests mention the decor is more functional than flashy, but most agree it’s great value.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to Glasgow for a concert and want an affordable, comfortable stay within walking distance of the action, the Sandyford Hotel is a reliable pick with a friendly local touch.

Exceptional

Liked: Loved this hotel. We were through to see Stereophonics and just needing a bed for the night. This hotel ticked all the boxes. Big shout out to Amy on reception who was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.
Disliked: Couldn't fault any of it for what we paid.

Great location but facilities could...

Liked: The location was excellent and bed was ok, but the steps up to the top level is not for faint hearted. If older and struggle with mobility i would suggest asking for a lower level room.
Disliked: There is only 3 things i look for in a hotel room and that is the comfort of the bed which was acceptable, room temperature which was ok when we opened the room window and finally the shower needs to be reasonable power. The shower was very temperamental (electric type) due to height of room the pressure was very low, virtually needed to run round the shower to find the water!

Thumps down from me

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Ever heard the saying, welcome to the cheap seats!! Room so in need of a fresh up, bed uncomfortable, pillows flat as a pancake. The reception area looks fresh, rest of hotel thumps down.

Liked: Close to the hydro - which was the purpose of our trip.Lady on reception was lovelyNice bathroom
Disliked: Rooms could have been cleaner given the fact it was not far off £200 for one night, it looked like it hadn’t even been hoovered.
