Great place to stay at...

Liked: Ideally located in the town and the owners were fantastic. Very helpful and nice. Shower was hot fantastic after a day exploring

Great Location, A Very Good...

Liked: We booked for a couple of nights at the start of our NC500 tour. The property is right in the centre of Thurso so handy for the shops, beach, etc., and there's a riverside walk just across the bridge which is great for the dog.The room was fairly good (very good by hostel standards), we had a double room with en-suite on the first floor, just across from the kitchen. There was a flat screen TV (but missing a lot of Freeview channels), a good shower and enough plugs for charging. The bed was reasonably comfortable, it did feel a bit springy but lying down it was fine.The kitchen had everything you need with several cookers, fridges, air fryers, etc., and tea / coffee, milk. There was plenty bread and cereals for breakfast.The owners were great, very friendly!
Disliked: The floors were very creaky and there's not much sound proofing, so quite noisy when people were walking down the corridor or going into the kitchen.On-street parking is available from 18:00 to 08:00, after that you will need to move or risk a parking ticket.

Liked: Great location to stay before heading on the early ferry to Orkney. Nice to interact with other travellers in the kitchen. Plentiful breakfast cereals and spreads available for breakfast. Personal recommendations given for entertainments, eating out and parking
Disliked: Hard to work out how to use the hot water. Could have used more tea towels, and instructions for recycling and systems for clean tea towels. Bed lumpy. Started stripping our beds before we checked out (though gave us time to pack when realised)
