Sandman Hotel & Suites Calgary West

We were treated very well. We had arrived early to check in and change for a wedding in the Wedding Pavilion. Earliest check in was established and Denny's was pointed out for a lunch. The room was excellent; all timelines were met for the wedding. We were only 4 minutes away from our destination. Doris and Ed.

Liked: Loved the suite set-up.
Disliked: None.

Ask for a different hotel.

Disliked: Almost everything. The room was falling apart, dirty, outdated, and cramped. I asked to be switched and even offered to pay for an upgraded room but was denied.

Liked: Super clean newly renovated rooms. Very friendly staff. Quiet!!!!
Disliked: Everything was great.

Liked: We stayed in a suite which was very nice. Having a Denny's share the same property (open 24hrs) was certainly convenient. Plenty of parking.
Disliked: There were kids sports teams roaming the halls making noise until 11:30pm. Tried contacting the front desk, but no answer. Got a cryptic call the next day "How is your stay? Any issues?", so likely staff saw several unreturned calls the day prior. Great hotel, but if you book in kids teams, patrol the halls from time to time and deal with the noise. Great hotel, but kids running and screaming in the hallways until midnight is a deal breaker for a return stay.

Liked: Easy parking, good for getting right on the highway and to your destination
Disliked: Dirty! Food or some sort of drink poured down the side of the walls. Bunk bed had multiple scratches and what looked like teeth marks. The overhead for the curtains had old (what looked like) fold chunks. My kids found numerous amounts of left over items under the beds- croc jibbits, spray caps, popcorn, weird metal pieces. Spiders, pill bugs and multiple beetles every day in the bathroom and kitchenette area. Plumbing was awful, first night the toilet ran all night. Despite letting front desk know, no one came to fix. I don’t know how in a hotel you run out of hot water but not even enough to run my kids bath.

Disliked: The hotel is tired and worn out, you can definitely tell. There was a razor guard left in our bathroom from previous people. Hot water was finicky. Pretty sure the "king" bed was a queen. Small room. Not worth it's pricing of over $150/nt.

Liked: Location, comfortable beds, staff and very clean. Reasonable pet fee and gift pack for pet
