Exceptional

Liked: The old hotel is furnished like a hotel from the lake 1980s or early 20th century. The rooms are small and you share the bathroom which adds to the charm.

Old hotel with convenient location

Liked: We booked the room with private bathroom. The has been renovated with modern bathroom and bed, which are quite okay. Good that they provide free coffee from 7am-1pm and there is water machine to refill water. Location is good as well.
Disliked: The wall is so thin that we can hear everyone and everything: the Mexican cleaning ladies next door, the tourists downstair, the chef upstairs, etc. And since the doors are vintage, they cannot be closed smoothly, every time someone closed it, it was like they were slamming the door. On the 1st night we had a shower at around 5pm and the hot water worked fine, but the 2nd day when we wanted to take a shower at around 7pm, there was no hot water and the water pressure went extremely low. From the saucepan-pounding and yelling sound upstairs we guessed it was the busy time of the kitchen and they have used up the hot water. The worst of all is, I don't know if it was the public restroom or the old carpet, the hallway smells like piss.

Great location, staff, and cool...

Liked: Location was amazing, staff was super kind, and facilities very clean. Love the unique charm of the hotel and the amazing restaurant downstairs. Make sure to go on Sunday for the jazz show from 11-4. It's so much fun!
Disliked: The room was very small and bed wasn't the best. It was good for a short stay, but any longer would've been way too much.

More like a hostel or...

Liked: Great location in North Beach
Disliked: Room was tiny, could barely move around.No elevator, we had to lug big suitcases up two flights of narrow stairs.Seems more suited to backpackers or adventurous travelers but the price doesn't reflect that
