It’s just a quick rideshare or transit hop from top spots like Massey Hall, The Danforth Music Hall, and Queen West clubs. The hostel’s 24-hour front desk and luggage storage mean you can arrive late or leave your bags after checkout for a day of exploring. Despite being in a lively area, the hostel itself has a relaxed, low-key atmosphere — perfect for winding down after the show.

Plus, you’re steps from countless late-night food spots in Kensington Market, from tacos to vegan eats to greasy spoons.

Nightlife Options

You’re in the thick of it — walk to local bars, microbreweries, and indie venues in minutes. For a more relaxed evening, grab drinks at a nearby speakeasy or sip a craft beer in one of the many open-air patios just around the corner. While Samesun doesn’t have its own bar, the neighborhood more than makes up for it.

What People Say

Guests love the welcoming staff, the vibrant social scene, and the unbeatable location. Many reviews praise the cleanliness of the shared spaces and the value for money. It’s a favorite among backpackers, music fans, and travelers who want a true Toronto experience.

It was a pleasant hostel...

Liked: Staff were friendly. The midnight ‘be quiet’ requirement was great. Bed was clean and comfy. Shared showers and toilets were clean. Help yourself breakfast was simple but worked and people were washing up their things well.
Disliked: When I dropped something beside the desk, it came out covered in a mat of long black hair. Really not pleasant and disappointing as everywhere else looked so clean. I was also woken by talking and giggling at 3am. It didn’t stop so at 3.15 I went out and found a lady on her phone, in the corridor. When I politely told her she’d woken me up, it was 3am and there’s a quiet rule from midnight, she apologised and went into the corridor. This isn’t the hostel’s fault, although maybe the quiet from midnight could be a bit more prominent.

Some pros but a few...

Liked: The location is great. Right by Kensington Market with lots of restaurants and shopping around. The staff has been very friendly and polite.
Disliked: There is only one bathroom with 2 stalls on each floor, which can be an issue when the foot traffic is heavy. Overall, the spaces are small and rather crammed in. The curtains by the cots are held on small pegs, which kept falling off, and there is no possibility of sitting up on the bed - the space is too small. The lounge area mats looked unclean to me. It was not the worst experience but certainly not the best. Overall, it is too pricy for what's offered.
