The Spotlight on Samesun Toronto

Affordable, Social Hostel in Toronto’s Coolest Neighborhood

Samesun Toronto is a laid-back, budget-friendly hostel located in the heart of Kensington Market — one of Toronto’s most eclectic and vibrant neighborhoods. With air-conditioned dorms, private balconies, and a communal vibe, it’s a great choice for travelers who love meeting fellow music fans. This 3-star hostel offers free WiFi, a shared kitchen, and a 24-hour front desk, making it easy to come and go on your concert schedule.

Why Concert-goers love it

Samesun Toronto puts you close to downtown’s biggest live music venues and cultural hotspots. It’s just a quick rideshare or transit hop from top spots like Massey Hall, The Danforth Music Hall, and Queen West clubs. The hostel’s 24-hour front desk and luggage storage mean you can arrive late or leave your bags after checkout for a day of exploring. Despite being in a lively area, the hostel itself has a relaxed, low-key atmosphere — perfect for winding down after the show.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for shared rooms and fun communal spaces
Solo travelers chasing unforgettable live shows on a budget
Couples wanting a quirky, urban weekend getaway
Fans who want a chill place to recover post-concert
Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t mind shared bathrooms

Food and Drink Options

Start your day with a continental or buffet breakfast — even if you slept in a bit after a late night out. While there’s no on-site restaurant, the shared kitchen is great for making your own snacks or meals. Plus, you’re steps from countless late-night food spots in Kensington Market, from tacos to vegan eats to greasy spoons.

Nightlife Options

You’re in the thick of it — walk to local bars, microbreweries, and indie venues in minutes. For a more relaxed evening, grab drinks at a nearby speakeasy or sip a craft beer in one of the many open-air patios just around the corner. While Samesun doesn’t have its own bar, the neighborhood more than makes up for it.

What People Say

Guests love the welcoming staff, the vibrant social scene, and the unbeatable location. Many reviews praise the cleanliness of the shared spaces and the value for money. It’s a favorite among backpackers, music fans, and travelers who want a true Toronto experience.

Areas for Improvement

The rooms are simple, and bathrooms are shared — so if you’re looking for luxury, this isn’t it. Some guests mention that street noise can filter in, especially on weekends. Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper!

The Bottom Line

Samesun Toronto is a fun, affordable base for concert-goers who want to stay central, meet like-minded travelers, and explore Toronto’s music scene on a budget.

Passable

Liked: I really love the staff, and the space feels queer friendly, which I love. The staff were my highlight.
Disliked: It was extremely hot, and I was sweating the entire night in my bunk. The adapter that controls the light and charger was on all night, and it was so bright that it was hard to ignore. I tried to turn it off with the switch provided, but one was for the lights; the other didn’t work. Additionally, the pillows provided very little support for my neck; they were extremely flimsy.
