Liked: The location, facilities, the staff - perfect.

Loved it!

Liked: location is in downtown Hollywood, appreciate the free breakfast and fresh water bottle filler, and everyday the floors and bathrooms were clean
Disliked: There are only stairs to the check-in desk and rooms - not a good option if you aren't physically capable of walking up a flight of stairs.

Don’t stay there if you...

Liked: The layout of the bathroom was nice.
Disliked: I asked them to combine two reservations before I arrived. Then, I requested a room change as everyone in that room left due to the noise/heat. They said they kept my reservations together. They did not. So, I came back from a 14 hour day of work to get handed my stuff in a trash bag and to be told I had to change rooms but “he had no clue why”. I wasn’t asked for my card or ID as I didn’t have that new reservation information. I have two confirmation emails that my reservations were combined as well as the word of two front desk clerks. I finally got upset with them, and I cried. The manager made me late for work the next day to yell at me about it. The staff apparently claimed that I lived in LA even though I showed proof of travel when I arrived. They lied about showing my ticket back to Seattle even though two of them were at the desk and I asked if I needed to email them proof. I was never asked for it again. I had said I was from there (I grew up in Lancaster, CA) and that I was working that week (I flew in to work a broadcast event called Level Reforge at Acamedy LA sponsored by Omen and other gaming companies). So, the manager made me show him my travel ticket home due to the staff lying which made me late for work. Also, the beds are not comfortable. I can not even sit up in a bottom bunk even though I’m only 5’ 5”. The pillow was so thin I had to fold up a sweatshirt. Every morning that I tried to shower before 7 am, the showers were being cleaned. I had to beg the young lady to let me shower the day of the event. So, I finally checked out 3 days early and moved to a hotel for the weekend after my event ended without any refund because I was so fed up with everything. I’ve stayed in hostels for the last 20 years. I do it be choice. I’ve stayed in the Samesun in Vancouver and the staff was lovely. I can’t understand why the Hollywood staff would mess up my reservation, lie about it, blame me, then get mad that I was finally upset with them.

Disliked: My room smelled very bad and it was very hot. It is not the fault of the hostel, but of the guests. But the heat could have been improved.The hostel is well located if you want to visit the walk of fame and the ovation. But it is a very noisy area and at night a bit dangerous in my opinion.
