Elegant Comfort Near Edinburgh’s Music Scene

Modern, peaceful, and nestled in the leafy Pollock Estate, Salisbury Green Hotel & Bistro is a stylish retreat just a short walk from Edinburgh’s buzzing Southside. With chic interiors, lush garden views, and a strong focus on comfort and Scottish hospitality, it’s a perfect base for music lovers exploring the city.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re within walking distance of Edinburgh’s iconic venues and surrounded by lively streets packed with bars and eateries. Despite its central location, the hotel sits in a quiet area—ideal for winding down post-show. The 15:00 check-in and 11:00 check-out offer a decent window for those arriving early or recovering late. Free WiFi and on-site parking (including EV charging) add extra convenience for travelers on the go.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to explore Edinburgh’s local music and nightlife
  • Solo travelers chasing a bucket-list gig
  • Couples turning a concert into a full weekend getaway
  • Fans seeking a quiet, comfy space to relax after a loud night
  • Budget-conscious music lovers wanting value without sacrificing style

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s contemporary bistro serves up Scottish-sourced dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner—ideal for fueling up pre-show or winding down post-concert. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the on-site restaurant and garden dining area offer a relaxing place to grab a late bite. Plus, the bustling Southside neighborhood is packed with walkable eateries.

Nightlife Options

You’re just a stroll away from a variety of bars, pubs, and lounges offering everything from classic whiskies to local craft beers. While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, its location makes it easy to jump into Edinburgh’s thriving nightlife scene—and escape it just as easily.

What People Say

Guests consistently rave about the peaceful setting, friendly staff, and luxurious rooms with rainfall showers and comfy beds. Many highlight the hotel’s cleanliness and the quality of food at the bistro. It’s often described as a hidden gem in a convenient yet quiet part of the city.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the hotel is a bit of a walk from the very center of town, so those looking to roll straight into bed after a late-night gig might consider a cab. Also, while the hotel is modern and cozy, it doesn’t offer late-night room service.

The Bottom Line

Salisbury Green Hotel & Bistro is a peaceful and stylish choice for concert-goers who want a relaxing night’s sleep just a short hop from Edinburgh’s live music action.

A Happy Guest – Loved...

Liked: I recently stayed at The Scholar Hotel in Edinburgh, and it truly exceeded my expectations. It’s a peaceful, quiet retreat nestled among beautiful trees and greenery, offering a calm atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing after a day in the city. What truly stood out for me was the exceptional service. The staff were not only professional and friendly, but genuinely went out of their way to help — even before being asked. Their kindness and efficiency made a lasting impression. After a disappointing experience with another booking platform, I made a same-day reservation at The Scholar. Despite the short notice, the team welcomed us warmly and checked us into all three rooms quickly and smoothly. Their support during a stressful moment is something I’ll never forget. The location is also fantastic — just a 2-minute walk to the bus station, with regular buses that reach the city centre in about 10 minutes.I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh. I’ll definitely be staying here again!
Disliked: I truly appreciate the hotel’s beautiful surroundings, with its lush greenery and abundance of trees — it creates a wonderfully serene atmosphere. However, given the natural setting, I would recommend scheduling regular ceiling cleaning, as we noticed a number of spiders in one of the rooms we booked.

Liked: This was a return stay for us as we stayed in 2024. This is a fantastic hotel set in a secure area within walking distance of the city centre. 30 minutes gets you to the royal mile at a leisurely pace. The room was very comfortable and the staff went out of their way to get the room which would suit us best. We were in room 104 and thanks to the American lady in front desk for her assistance in choosing an airy room. The hotel also had passes for the nearby gym which was excellent. All in all a great stay.

Great place to stay, large...

Liked: We had a top floor room that had opening windows, including the skylights in the ceiling. The room was spacious and had two comfortable chairs and a table as well as a king size bed. There was free parking and a lovely breakfast selection. Staff were great and always helpful.
Disliked: Nothing.

An accommodation amongst the green

Liked: It is located in the university accommodation compound surrounded by green mature trees and far from the noise. A short walk to the bus station if you didn't drive and free private parking if you do, which is RARE in Edinburgh (this was the selling point for us). About half an hour easy bus ride to Town Center. There is a restaurant that serves good food, drink and music, the same restaurant serves breakfast. Elevator service, helpful staff and the room is the size of a regular home bedroom. Toilet was clean and with good water pressure. Good shower ammenities too. Coffee machine, kettle, tea, hot chocolate and cookies were provided. Decent bed and pillows.
Disliked: No AC and can be warm at night. We tried opening the window but since our room was exactly above the restaurant and its outdoor sitting area, we could hear every conversation and jokes the guests were at. Stains on carpet and mouldy smell along the corridoor, from the carpet. No space to open the suitcases and since there is no storage space in the closet, we had no choice but to move the chairs around just to have our suitcases on the floor opened. The bathroom is clean but the sink is tiny with no place to hang our hand/face towels. A hook or two would help. The shower has no door but just a small panel of glass and the bathroom got wet when someone showered. Can be dangerous and slippery.

Very good

Liked: The room is beautiful, and so is the bathroom. The location in the middle of the university campus was something very special.
Disliked: The rooms are not air-conditioned and the windows could only be opened a bit. Breakfast was nothing special for a 4-star hotel.
